Hello,

My name is Matthew, I'm based near Penistone (queue the laughs Smile ) in South Yorkshire and I'm a Bicycle Mechanic & Unix Engineer.

Last year after reading posts on another forum and chatting with members of the forum I decided I was mature enough (mid 30's) to start my journey into riding a motorcycle. Grr666 was very helpful in getting me started & I'd like to say another 'Thank You to Gary' for this.

So, 1 year of happy YBR125 ownership, I'm now getting prepared for my Theory/Hazard Perception test, which is now booked.

As time goes by, hopefully I will be able to contribute to BCF & not become another leech looking for advise on faults then disappearing.

Matthew

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I'm a tinkerer at heart Smile , I shall be replacing the rear shock absorbers this week as mine have failed the MOT for inadequate damping.

Might be cheaper to get a 2nd opinion unless you think they're overly bouncy. It's a purely subjective test and the manual even says "shock absorbers fitted to the rear of some small machines may have limited damping".

Yeah seems a bit rough, unless its done a lot of miles?
YBR suspension is crap compared to proper bikes.
Would think it should be absolutely shafted to fail a mot

To be fair, when you release the back end after pressing it down, it bounces a full 6times before it stops moving. After removing the old dampers you can see that the seals were cracked and you can see into the damping chamber, they were completely fubar'd.

New dampers fitted today and their 100% better Smile

They looked like they had been replaced in the past, no idea why but they certainly weren't original.

Good to hear you got it sorted.
