Always loved the look of these guitars, have stuck a transferable deposit down on one of the new Jem 7v BfP models as its something I have always wanted (a Jem, not specifically the blue floral one - I just really like this one in the current range)

Guitar is like this...

https://cdn.mos.musicradar.com/images/Gear%20non%20mag/Ibanez%202015/JEM77P_BFP_1P_01-630-80.jpg

Is there anything else similar I should consider before taking the plunge.

I would want a Rock type guitar, so recommending something completely different is not the advice I am looking for.

I like Ibanez guitars in general, I have quite a few acoustics & electrics
was never a fan of the Jem though couldn't get used to the neck
if you havn't tried one before I strongly suggest you do before you buy

Never been a big Ibanez fan, but I've got a nice 90's Alvarez Dana Scoop in black with graphite neck.
It's lush and rare. My most valuable guitar.

I loved playing my friend's Ibanez Roadstar. Although it was 30 years ago I distinctly remember the neck feeling quite wide compared to the Westone Spectrum MX I was playing at the time. Lovely instrument, felt and looked well made.

Not a fan of the Handle cutout on that Jem 7v BfP but it appears to be quite versatile with those pups and 24frets.... Thumbs Up

Why not just a Prestige?

I love the Jem, but unless I was minted and bought the 777SK because its fucking sick I'd stick to the prestige RG.

thats what I felt too the neck was too wide for me, though my other Ibanez electrics feel more like a strat neck
which I'm more comfortable with

I have (along with other things) an RG350DX - because at the time I couldnt afford a Jem and at the time it was the next best thing to look a bit like a Jem 7vwh. With the Jem Jr now available it is a totally different matter - only I am not looking at this end of the market.

I do intend on trying before buying as I don't live that far from GAK to bob in tomorrow and have a look and play before making the choice.

I don't really want a classic strat type guitar - it is a versatile rock type guitar I want, kinda Like the RG but better. the prestige RG could be a shout!

for when i fancy a diddle.

So, I can't be that far off the mark with a H S H configuration to get a massive range of tones. Part of the draw for me is something being a work if art in its own right. It just has to be beautiful as well as play nice and sound great.

I will make no bones about it, this guitar will be a darling of the home.. Never taken out the house and polished a lot!

I have seen some good deals in ESPs at the moment too.. Its the draw if the Jem though.

so I finally bought myself one for my birthday because I could Laughing

and I have no regrets I love it Thumbs Up

Yep, since I was a kiddo always wanted a jem... Nowt to do with being a vai fan - just loved the way they looked and vwhast could be done with them.

But you can buy a lot of guitars for that money and within that price range i would hate to think I bought something genuinely inferior just because if a childhood fantasy.. Meeting your heroes and all that.

I will have to play a few, a top end S series could tickle my fancy.

But blue floral and tree of life...

I've owned an LTD MH1000 which was phenomenal.

I has the RG 2550Z which again, brutal yet versatile as hell.

I'd like them if the processing was any good, the worst possible processing amp closely followed by the Peavey Vypyr.

I still have got my the very first electric guitar and I still play it. It's a very cheap Cort M200, not sure if they make these anymore, but it's basically a LP setup with only 1 tone and 1 volume knob in a super strat body kind of shape? I was 14 when I got it and liked the look of it. Never goes out of tune and sound rather alright for something like that. Thumbs Up ¨

In fact, it out-lived the MG15 that I got as my first amp. Thumbs Up

My M200 looks the same as the one in the picture, but I've got a C shape cut away in the head rather than the check mark.

I have a Jem, playability is great, neck is quite thin and narrow also quite quick, floyd rose is a floyd rose, the sound is awesome and you can abuse the shit out of them, my only gripe with them is that you have to use thin jack leads.

Still on the hunt to one day own a Jem7BSB
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ultra-Rare-Condition-1997-Ibanez-Jem-7BSB-With-Vintage-Hardcase-HD-Pictures-/331593373241?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d34815639

I missed out on one once, one day I will own, but they are very rare.

Similar guitar but much heavier in sound is a Schecter

I have an RG3120TW prestige, bought it about 11 years ago second hand. its a great guitar, and has been my main play ever since. I've also got a RG8 for some laughs and play through a Laney VC15 Thumbs Up

I've not played any of the gems but i always wanted the jem777 universe.
