The idea of this post is for other riders to list the good bike shops out there and to give other readers a good idea who to trust with your toys.

Start your post with county and shop name and a brief summary as to what they did for you.

Don't write about servicing's, tyre fitting or MOT's this is bread and butter but real problems and the shops that help you out. If you feel happy post up the cost.

Thanks to all and hopefully this post doesn't get clogged/diluted with tangents and stays true to the idea to help others.

All I want to achieve is a good list of repair shops/individuals and where they are and what they did for you.

Oxfordshire - Mike wheelers. They carried out a offset rebore on my racing bantam engine and sourced a replacement piston to fit. £80 I think.

Brick wood wheel builders - Salisbury. Built two wheels up on loose hubs with the correct offset on flanged rims.

Brit bits in Christchurch Dorset - excellent experience and knowledge and great work arounds for that old British bike.

Tank care products - Norfolk Reepham - Sprayed/decals my Kawasaki 1971 H1 500 tank and panels and sealed the tank also, excellent finish for under £600

Colourcote in Norfolk hethel - for powder coating. Great communication and spot on accuracy.

D J Fabrications Ltd - Norfolk - welded my alloy racing tank for tank mounts. Under £20 and done in an hour or two.

North Lanarkshire, Airdrie - Girders Motorcycle Workshop.

Highly recommended, run by Kat and Marie. Nice family run business with a real passion for bikes. Put many a bike of mine through an MOT and any major work i've needed.

Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
Del's Motorcycles and Tyres.

First time I went there, the bike was really snatchy and difficult to ride smoothly at lower revs (typical traffic use). Charged me just one hour's labour for about 3 hours work. He's really enthusiastic and helpful, tells it like it is, knows his stuff. Always ready to give advice and guidance if you're not sure what you're doing. Works on all makes and ages of bike.

Motorcycle Doctor Sussex

Either he's really fast (wouldn't surprise me) or he well undercharges labour costs but after my off he did a great job sorting out the repair quote and then repairing it for much less, both parts and labour.

Always full of helpful tips when I go to drop off/collect too. Wish he was a bit closer to me though as we both recently moved in opposite directions!

Dorset - Spanner's

Very friendly bloke, does a lot of choppers etc, however did a great job of getting my Gixxer back on the roads after being garaged for about 5 years from the previous owner. Rust inside the tank full fluid change and an MOT didnt mind me phoning for an update every so often and seemed very knowledgeable.

Also used him years ago for an MOT and needed a new back brake, booked in first thing on a nice saturday morning with the idea to get it passed and go for a ride after, it would have failed on the back brake disc however he delayed putting the details in the system so i could go for a ride and dropped it back in later for him to sort out the brake which he got during the day. Top Bloke

for North Manchester area i would recommend

Fourways - https://plus.google.com/100742470339671197054/about?gl=uk&hl=en

local little garage which only does bikes, knows everything there is and very friendly. Honest and does amazing work.

Rocket Centre - https://www.rocketcentre.co.uk/

Large dealer for bikes, pretty friendly and the mechanics are very good and thorough. Would recommend.

Oxfordshire - GP Performance; replaced fork stanchions, fitted tyres, MOTed etc. Also MOTed my mate's road-going KX500 with a very pragmatic approach. What's more, it is next door to Infinity Motorcycles and the H Cafe, so plenty to do while you wait.

Anyone in Bucks or surrounding areas,

The one place I will ever go to is 'D C Rogers' Located near Aylesbury tucked away in a quiet place called great kimble. Near the chilterns too, great ride for me. Thumbs Up

A small workshop on a farm that 2 guys run, they are absolute top blokes, happy to tinker etc for the love of it and not there to overcharge you. Honest and trustworthy.

Not only do they do tyres, MOT's, etc these guys have probably forgotten more about bikes than most of us know.

They got my PR3's for less than I could find online & fitted them to the bike (wheels off and back on) for an incredibly reasonable price.

Also took my restriction off, which most other garages were clueless about - and he charged me less hours on it than he actually spent.

When it came to the MOT, I stood with him as he did it, headbearings were a massive fail, instead of just saying ooh you'll need a new one he got his tools out and had a tinker for 10 minutes, re-adjusted something and my headbearings were as good as new.

I won't be taking my bikes anywhere else. Thumbs Up

Gardener and White, Stoke Arlington. Paul bends over backwards to help and is reasonably priced. And the photo wall is awesome.
