Passed my license about 2 months ago and decided to upgrade to something a bit more powerful then my cbr125.

Went with the GSXR600. I must say I love it! The power is amazing. Its quite comfortable, the only niggle i Have i lack of mirror visibility and turning circle of a lorry.

Nice. Right choice of colour too.

Is it A2 compliant? Edit - ignore me - not sure why I read A2 as you didn't say that!

Nope full license Smile

Another niggle i forgot to mention is the lack of fuel guage. A bit hard to plan your commuting when you have no idea whats in there (aside from roughly judging by looking inside.)

Very nice Thumbs Up

I'd advise some strong security, last time I saw on of these it had two young lads on, one on the back of which stared at me with interest, soon shot of into the distance.

Anyway, enjoy Cool

Nice bike Thumbs Up

Could you use your trip meter as fuel indicator ?

But remember to reset it to 0 when you fill up.

You can work this out at your first fill-up. Set your trip to zero then do 100 miles and fill up again. Divide 100 by the number of litres it takes to fill back up then multiply by the tank's capacity in litres, that gives you your range to empty.

So for instance, if you did 100 miles and put 12 litres in, and your tank holds 18 litres

100/12*18 = 150 miles

Now all you have to do is re-set the trip every time you fill up and you'll always know when you're getting close to empty by the distance travelled.

General BCF opinion is almax Thumbs Up oxford Thumbs Down

Get whatever you comfortable with and always chain it to a unmovable object when out and about if possible, ground anchor at home.

So a disc alarm when I go gym etc (I can't fit a heavy chain with me)
Then a heavy hardened steel chain hooked up to ground anchor at home.

Do I need planning permission to put one in my driveway?

Permission off the owner. If that's you, fine. If not, and you can't get it than a 25litre paint drum (or equivalent). fill with concrete and a steel loop in it. Dig hole, bury with just the steel loop out and put your chain through that. Thumbs Up

I reckon you could get a 1.2m metre chain under your seat, that way you always have one with you and you can tie your rear wheel to the swingarm or whatever. That should be a better deterrent than a disc lock.

Then you can use a longer/heavier one at home.

Very nice Very Happy Thumbs Up

I went from a CBR125 to an R6, I agree with you on the fuel gauge, a bit irritating, I don't know if the GSXR is the same but once my fuel light comes on, the trip goes to zero and has an 'F' next to it, so you know how many miles you have done since the light came on.

I believe I can get about 20 miles(ish) once the light comes on.
Never risked doing 20 mind you, just get to a fuel station as soon as I can!

I don't even use the fuel meter in my car. I know when I switch to reserve I need to fill up (or when the fuel light comes on with these new fangled machines such as the four wheeled vehicles)
