Yep, the original Fazer. It had the FZ750 engine, US models were 700cc. A mate of mine had one back in the 80s. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Guy I know had one, he bought it new but didn't ride it much and it rotted in his garden. Sold it for a pittance because the ingnition unit packed up. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Just do it. Go on, buy it you know you want to
Then bring it round to mine (tea provided) so I can have a good look at it. Very interesting.
EDIT - you have 7 hours... ____________________ stinkwheel: He had an animated .gif of a cat performing fellatio. It's not socially acceptable. It can have real life adverse effects on other people. |

Hi all. First pos, ive been a lurker for a while. But I saw this post and thought I'd pitch in.
I've had a couple of FZX750s, one in black and red, and one in black and grey.
The first was a French import, apparently they were very popular out there.
I really liked the style, I've always hankered after a vmax, and the first once came up at a reasonable price. Later on another came up, and I had no significan bad recollections so went for it again.
The FZX is a lovely piece of styling, and always draws attention, it's 140 mph quick, very quick accelerating because it's tuned for a bit more midrange, and handles reasonably (more on this later). It has a very relaxed riding position, and a very low seat height, so it's easy to manage at low speed, even for short arses ( I've a couple of hobbit like friends who both fell in love with the bike cos of this)
The bad bits I recall were the brakes and the coils, the brakes did need attention to stop them binding, but then, back when I had these bikes, two wheels was my all year round transport. The coils too were a weak spot, tiny little things which could get fussy when it was wet.
The handling too, while you could fit nice sticky rubber, and the farm was rigid enough, the frame rails were the limiting factor. Then engine would keep up with a lot of more modern stuff, but in the twisties, you could find yourself grinding frame rail, and only a degree or two from lifting the back wheel.
I've a pic or two of the red one posted on line from years ago at the below link. The headlight was replaced by a z1000 unit and headlight fairing to make high speed cruising more comfortable. I think the only pics I've got of the grey one were took on a dark and rainy day and don't do it justice.

I'd get another, it was a lot of fun, the problems were minor and easy to resolve (shares many parts with other yams) and it was common enough to be a great conversation starter - most common comment 'nice v-max mate" |

Well I hummed and Hawd..??
And didn't buy it in the end. Mainly because I'm a wuss. There are 3 bikes in the garage at the moment and I couldn't stand a few weeks of 'wasting OUR money on another bike' from wifie. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |
