70mph - source

Posting what you think is wrong with your bike as best as possible may help others comment on if there is actually something wrong or not?

As I get more (indicated) out of a cbf125, I'd say that is not right.
Other symptoms??

As I am not that good with engine s it makes a strange
kind of noise when running
I can get up to 50 but when I put in top gear it doesnt go any
quicker
also if I get to 50 in 4th gear and take the revs up past 6500
And keep trying to go faster it kind of chokes
its a bit hard to explain but thats the best I got

How tall are you and what is your weight ?

Do you regularly carry loads on the bike, goods, top box, passenger (scratch passenger ? Shhh! ).

How are you able to run that fast? Shocked

OK, in B4 Teffers: basics.

Change the engine oil, replace the spark plug, replace the air filter.

Show us a picture of the old spark plug.

So you've no idea how old the air filter is for example.

As said above - basics first. Get it serviced

you can/should be revving up to the red line to get the most out of it. Don't be afraid to take it past 6.5k rpm.

Has the bike been sitting for any period of time?

So I dont think the air filter has
ever been
cleaned/replaced also it had been sitting for
about 6 - 8weeks after the previous owner went
over on it

Sounds like a well cared for example. I'd be surprised if there was anything seriously wrong with it

Is there anything other than 8.5k?
My CBF 125 lives at that in order to generate any forward momentum Very Happy

The Superbike magazine test timed the 2010 CBR125 at 71.3mph. It also span up the rollers to 11.95bhp at about 9800rpm.

Tidy real figures for a 13bhp motorbike IMO.

The YZF125R is a 73.6mph motorcycle in the same test.

Carb, singular. I've seen one and heard of a few CBR125s with clogged idle jets so I'd echo the issue about crud from the tank. Slap an inline fuel filter in for a few £££ while you're doing the service.
