Best bikes for tall riders ?

Hi all, just passed my test and I'm looking for a bike to comfortably accommodate my 6 ft 4, 18 stone frame.
I've been told to keep clear of Super sports but I fancy a Honda CBR 650F. Apparently adventure bikes would suit me more.
Any advice guys ?

Go into some bike shops and sit on a few.

Im 6'2 and the ER6F was comfortable for 400 mile runs and was a decent bike to learn on. Lots of torque to move of the line compared to the Hornet I had as a loan bike.

I'd say that Matt B has got the closest thing you can get to a sports bike for the very tall, and large built people?

The RSV1000 has always looked big tall and roomy for the big fella that want's clip on's full fairing and wannabe fireblade.

My fella (when younger) had a chopped Goldwing (yes) as that suited his 6'6" 17 stone (+) frame, 39" inside leg. From old photos I have seen, it looked kind of funky and very cool - not at all like a boring standard Goldwing.

He's currently got another (as yet unchopped) one, and an old Kawasaki ZZR1100 (I think) in his "building projects" department.

Slightly taller, longer in leg, about the same chunkiness.

Started on a CBF600, which was a nice size for me, seat adjustable to suit height and whilst a little vanilla on ride, was very forgiving for a new rider, the 1000 I found to be a bit more of a handfull, but that was after 125 riding, so depends what you are used to.

Tried the Varadero when I upped for the CBF last year and had good height to seat and length to pegs, but for me (you'll most likely be different) found the knee position a little awkward, can't explain why, just did not feel right.

The BMWs I tried were nice and tall, well equipped and stable due to the low slung boxer engine, with again a good seat to peg gap, but my knees were too far out to fit in the tank cutouts, so they were out for me.

As stated on here several times, I eventually went for a V-Strom 650, tall off the ground, long seat/peg gap, good span between seat and tank dents and generally inoffensive ride all round, but great fun to ride none the less.

Again the 1000 would give more grunt and general speedyness, but IMHO, I found it to have too much torque out of the big V twin and could not get used to it.

These are just my observations, others may and probably will disagree with much of what said, but generally, I'd say, find a friendly bike dealer and spend some time, looking, sitting, narrowing down the choice and then riding before making your informed decision on purchase.

Blackbird fits me OK at 6ft 5 with 36ins legs. I'm fancying a gsx 1400 maybe next year though, they look REALLY comfortable Very Happy

I saw a nice big looking Aprilia bike a few months ago, it seemed like an enduro/supermoto style. Im sure it won't be hard to find the bike Im talking about.
