I am buying a go pro for my bike.

told my dad that I was filtering traffic on the A650 near the by pass today he's had a fit heres what i told him.

basic I came off the round about 1 artic in front 1 behind so I have moved over to about a foot away form the centre line so I could see they artic in fronts mirrors.
I can see do sent mean he can see me thou I know that.
the road has a long curve in it so I couldn't see traffic in front for a bit so I sat patiently behind the artic till I could after I could and the road was clear on the on coming side I said fuck it and filtered it to the front of the lights.

dads kick off say what if some one opened there door so I couldn't break in time.

am guessing if I hit the door when they have opened it malicious there at fault if I can prove it.

if I cant prove it its my fault?

tl:dl version if so cock open his door when I am filtering and I hit his door am I in the wrong.

If you aren't filtering, and someone opens their door not giving you time to stop, it'll be their fault.

I don't see how filtering would make it less their fault.

If they opened their door, they would be comitting an offence.

Opening a car door into danger is a specific offence under section 42 of the Road traffic act 1988 as specified in the The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, section 105.

i know what's caused him to worries is me having a off last week after it rained and like a dick i forgot that the roads would be slipy and went round a round about at 30 and slid out.

hopefully the go pro will help him worrie less... in trouth this is going to back fire badly but hay ho.

A GoPro will do nothing but aid as video evidence in the event of an insurance claim, as a pre-warning set the GoPro up so that a decent shot can be obtained of what's in-front of you in "normal" mode having the GoPro set to "wide" can distort things and make them seem further away than what they actually are, an insurance companies will think that you had more time than you did blah blah wriggle out of a claim.

He is being a hypocrite he spent a month or two in a coma after coming off a bike he still got on and rid it after.

Normally he's OK with most things but he's seen me ride once before (6 month ago) when I was looking behind me to see what they were doing and not paying attention to what was in front of me my own fault and I deserved the telling off I got.

his main issuse with my riding is I dont ride central dominant I ride about a 1 foot away form the center line which is a habit am trying to get out of at the moment to go do my tests.

the go pro is for me to look back at my riding in a day and go i fucked up there i forgot a check and so on.

My stepson was filtering to the front of lights and a guy opened his door to spit on the road. He hit the door and it flung him into the car waiting in the next lane (2 lanes leading up to the lights).

Incident was found 100% in his favour and the car owner's insurance footed the bill.

Your dad is going to worry. Worried people don't always think or express themselves calmly or rationally. It might be easiest if you simply don't discuss your riding with him.

I've shown Mrs Borg footage of a very careful commute and a brief slow filter with loads of room still made her wow such worry very concern.

when my gran was alive she always said I was never aloud a motorbike but was ok to have a scooter

I turned up one day on a 125cc bike she went mad at me and wouldn't let me in her house (I had borrowed it off a mate as mine hadn't been picked up from dealers)

next weekend I went to visit I had a brand new 400cc scooter
