Yup.

If only it was money-laundering... they'd still be in a job.

Bringing the company into disrepute by getting the spotlight of moral outrage on them??

I understand it was a teambuilding jolly so am guessing it was on company time and therefore "still representing the company".

Can't see it falling as unfair dismissal if my understanding is correct.

The "inappropriate behaviour" was putting the video on Instagram.

By all means stage mock executions of your Asian colleagues, if you work for a large multi national corporation then it's blindly obvious that putting the video on the internet won't end well.

I wouldn't want to employee anyone that stupid. Would you?

I suspect it will succeed as unfair dismissal. The participants are guilty of twattish bad taste (not normally gross misconduct), but whoever put it in the public domain is the one bringing the company into disrepute.

Not sure when this occurred and whether there has been time for the HSBC disciplinary procedure up to and including appeal to have been followed. This story is full of procedural and interpretive holes.

I predict they'll get compo/reinstated in the near future.

The tribunals are pretty fair and apply common-sense to gross misconduct cases. It brings the company into disrepute. Even if it wasn't on company time, there is a good argument that if they could be identified as HSBC employee's they can still get the boot.

The guys could have been dismissed without severance pay, unless an exit agreement (forget what the technical term is) was made - essentially money in exchange to agreeing to leave short and shrift.

Just looks like they were having a laugh. You can picture it at go-kart track,

''ere boys, look at the orange suit they've given Shahid, he looks like a fucking hostage. Wait, we got black ones... gimme that coat hanger... jokes"

Just a laugh, innit, they deserve to win unfair dismissal, its a well over the top decision.

They won't though as justice has nothing to override faux public outrage

Beheading victims have families, you monsters.

I for one applaud the responsible, considered decision of so many commercial 'news' businesses to seek this video out and shove it in those families' faces so that they can be suitably horrified, shocked and appalled by it. Doubtless that was the express intent of the HSBC villains that made it, and now their nefarious scheme has been rightly dragged into the full, profitable light of day thanks to the sterling, selfless actions of our Fourth Estate.
