Just bought a duke 390

Ok two and a half years after passing my test ( in the snow under the old 33 up rules) I finally upgraded (but still will keep for rallies etc) my 1968 7hp Vespa for a duke 390.
Got a good deal on a new bike from the ktm dealer in Hemel, even threw in the first service and a friendly wave as I pulled away.
Although I dearly love the Vespa, it's nice to have a bike with indicators and one where you don't have to keep your hand over the clutch lever at all times in case IT seizes.
Not the most confident rider In the world & haven't seen the shift light lit once, even set at the girlie running in setting but I am enjoying it.
Full power model as well, not the detuned A2 version.

Good to hear that the dealer is friendly.

Can you keep us posted on it? It's a bike that tempts me but the reports of serial problems on the 125 version make for dismaying reading.

Yeah it would be nice to hear some positive reviews and some long term pain free ownership stories. It a nice format for a sporty naked town bike that's fairly light, has nearly all the power A2 allows and a good chassis to use it all.

I don't know if being built in India instead of Austria/Italy is going to be these bike's downfall though?

That's one of the reasons I bought a new one, two years warranty, so if it proves problematic it goes in MCN classifieds.
Even though I now have a hooligan bike, I haven't given up my mod sensibility & can be seen riding around in my Tucano Urbano 3 button suit style jacket ( with armour) & my brown suede paddock boots (as close as I could get to a safety desert boot), I even collected it from the dealer in a parka.
As regards build quality, it's very well finished & I'm impressed on how it rides, although coming from a vintage Vespa, I'm yet to see the shift light lit. I filled it up at the weekend & I thought think it's doing around 80-90mpg, but I'm yet to pound it like a $10 ho (oh crikey that must be the hooligan in me manifesting itself, I blame the bike & claim my right of silence granted to me under the Magna Carta)

ok 600 miles done and it's going for its first service tomorrow. Had to climb back on the 1968 Vespa for a rally last weekend, which was a bit of a shock After the duke. The duke does inspire confidence in ones bike riding skills, however I can see how it can easily bring out the hooligan in one.
So to recap, I'm throwing into corners like a rag doll, but I'm yet to pound it like a $10 hooker.

Not really orange enough for my taste.
Actually I looked at these after passing my test but they seem to suffer from 'funky tax', and I wouldn't buy a
dust cap from fowlers in Bristol anyway, and they are my local stockist. Don't they have different power maps? Or was that something else?
