I have mod 1 booked early September at Wolverhampton with Riders, who I done CBT last August with so won't need assessment. The instructor was highly recommended and so was Wolverhampton test centre as being better than Garretts Green in Birmingham. I spoke to instructor, he knows I commute 75 mile daily round trip on my YBR. He recommended 1 day training but I booked 2 days mod 1 training with the test on morning of 3rd day.

Has anyone done mod 1 at Wolverhampton ?

What are examiners like there ?

Any tips ?

You're giving it far too much significance. It's a very simple test, just do it. You're not going to pass it while training.

So do the training schools, riders wanted me to undertake two full days of training for Module 1 spanning in multiple hundreds after undertaking one full day with my local school, and my local school wanted me to undertake one more full day after being told half on the day by the trainer, funny how that changed by the end of the day when I phoned them Rolling Eyes

Anyway, don't listen to other people and how much money they want to rake out of you, I put my foot down and got it on the cheap, well cheap in comparison to what people where telling me I needed, i'll be sure to find out if I'm actually ready when I take it in a few weeks time.

Two hours on an empty car park with a bunch of cones purchased form the local shop was enough to prepare me (with accurate measurements) for an attempt at the module 1 on my own bike without seeing the test pad before, as above, it's not hard.

Tips: Enjoy how fast it goes and the pass certificate at the end Very Happy

Thanks for replies. I spoke to the instructor first so the school office would not rip me off. I got a a good price.
I'm just focusing on passing mod 1 then mod 2. The instructor told me I could go for mod 2 on 2nd day if I wanted based on nearly a year experience of riding 350 miles per week, but I prefer to do one module at a time Smile

Of course they did they hope in secret that the pupil fails and then cheer back at the office when there monthly figures go up and it keeps them in business, it's a risky method, depends how it's marketed as to if people fall for it, also the reason why training costs are so high because schools want you to bunch it all together in one go, which it not how it works for everyone.

One module at a time is definitely the most sensible way to go.

Booking both right next to each other or a day apart is then putting more pressure on yourself to pass the mod 1 (because if you don't pass, you would be unable to take mod 2 and lose the £75 test fee).

You can already ride a bike (covering 350 miles a week proves that fact). When you look at the requirements for mod 1:

and once you have been through the manoeuvres a few times (especially with training) you should be very confident and nail the test.

Perhaps with your experience it would be better to reduce the training to 1 day? (Mod 1 practice in the morning, ride to the test centre, take the mod 1 in the afternoon?) Is this what the instructor was recommending?

Also, for Mod 1, there is no difference in the test centres. It's just the same manoeuvres and cones so it doesn't matter where you take it.

Instructor recommended either 1 day with test at end or on following morning. No afternoon tests available for many weeks. I booked 2 days training to 'play it safe'. I know mod 1 test is same everywhere but some people told me examiners are more strict (putting it mildly) at Birmingham. I thought it would not any difference anywhere but not taking chance Smile

Piece of piss mate, don't worry about it, 1 day needed if that realy!

3 Days 'training' for my DAS, 1st day getting used to big boys bike, spent chasing my instructor down twisties at NSL, 2nd day SOME Mod 1 training and more dicking about and visiting cafes, 3rd day crammed in mod 2 training - passed, don't overthink it Very Happy good luck.
