My mate was happy to get her new pressie of a dash cam off her bf until she was confronted about a conversation shed had on her phone in the car which was recorded. basically telling her friend the her bf was being a bit needy.

fast forward a few months after hed been told to put his big boy pants on and man up and relationship is pretty normal, her car is in the garage after bf says he hears a funny noise coming from the engine.

garage calls her to tell her her car is ready and the tracking app is good to go on her partners phone. He told her that it was in case the car got stolen. Ive told her he is electronically stalking her movements and its way too creepy behaviour to be healthy. I know he has trust issues from his last relationship but im telling her she needs to bail. Is this even legal?

This isnt me, if i got found a tracker fitted the person responsible would be needing it surgically removed from their arsehole!!

Its time for your friend to put on her own big girl pants and make a decision. Having been caught sneakily trying to keep tabs on her, he has done it again. He is going to keep doing it, and even if he doesn't, she can't be sure of that. She must decide to either accept being monitored, or end the relationship.

I can see some fun to be had here.....

A few trips round some red light area's and park up in a few known "Dogging" sites.
That should peek his interest Laughing

Oi oi oiiiiiii ... let's not all dive in and be freaky about it quite yet.

If there is a worry about him being stalkerish, then perhaps she could attempt to call his bluff by asking to have the tracking app on *her* phone rather than his.

Otherwise, nothing he has actually said/done so far denotes anything other than a concerned bloke. So he manned up after being read the Riot Act, and that their relationship was deemed to be normal.

Sure, if he gets all ownershippy about the whole thing, then there might well be reason to review other of his actions, but don't condemn the man just yet.

In matters such as this, I am always very happy to be proved wrong, but ...fuck! It's all a bit Kangaroo Courts'R'us at this juncture - or at least on first glance Shocked

So he made some excuse about a noise from the engine as a pretext to fitting a tracking device? Also without consulting her first? Sounds like an obvious control freak/creepy stalker to me. Thumbs Down

Here's a suggestion that will out his intentions pretty quickly. Get the tracking app installed to HER phone with strict instructions to the garage that no other phone is to have it installed.

Is your friend constantly flirting with other guys, cheating or encouraging her boyfriend to believe any of that stuff is possible? Some girls seem to get off on the idea of making a guy paranoid and then making a fuss about how he should trust her.

The recording is creepy, he should have just ended it instead. If she can't be trusted then he should walk away. Doesn't matter if he is right or wrong in what he thinks. One day he'll find some equally obsessive nut case that he can trust.

Trust issues may be his issue.

Sack off, although I doubt the stalking will end until he's found someone else to fixate on.

He's a nut job. How many hours of dashcam footage would he have trawled through listening to her sing along to crap radio tunes before getting to the bit he brought up? Fitting a tracker to her car without telling her then takes weirdo to the next level, had she not talked to the garage would he ever have told her?

She needs to bail before her face ends up on an anti-domestic violence poster (as a murder victim).

Tracking her movements. Recording and subsequently listening to her private conversations.

If she turned up in small pieces in a shallow grave somewhere you'd have to say all the signs were there.

Question is what's more likely to turn this potential psycho into an actual psycho... his espionage turning up something he doesn't like, or her dumping him? She's probably a walking corpse either way. Fit a tracker to his car so at least the po-po can track down their prime suspect easier.

not just me being paranoid then lol. Omega, this is a couple who both have well paid jobs. His ex was a sit at home getting expensive presents partner, my friend is financially solvent with a career and very independent so total opposite and not at all flirty with anyone. The type of couple you'd never expect to be on a Jeremy Kyle show.

I think im going to get her to check out her phone now

IMO no one is that degree of paranoid without being guilty themselves.

Dash cams usually record audio as well. If she was the only woman in the world ever that actually uses a hands free kit,
then the conversation audio would have come out of the speakers in the car and been clearly recorded along
with her own ambient speech.
She either didn't know it did that or forgot then gossiped away with her mate on the phone and got busted discussing their
relationship with an outsider. If that was me I'd personally prefer my partner to discuss her relationship concerns
with me first before flapping her gums to all and sundry about it. IMO that's going behind his back just as
much as he was behind hers. Equally guilty and made for each other.

So this bloke has never discussed his missus with his mates? Fuck off.

It's none of his business what she talks to her friends about. Same thing I say about people who go through their OH's phones, PC etc. Thats bloody effort. If you don't trust, stop dicking around and get rid.

Sorry, that's me. I only use the Bluetooth handsfree thing in my car so this other chick can't have done so..... Soz.

scorps your mate needs to get out of that relationship and fast. Recording conversations and tracking her car is not right and shows a massive lack of trust. Does she have a PIN on her phone? Has he started trawling through her texts yet?

Just asked my wife, who is quite trusting of me and usually shrugs her shoulders at most things I get up to and the following conversation took place;

"if you picked up the car from the garage and part of the conversation was "yeh, it's all sorted and the tracker is linked to your partner's phone" what would you think?

"you're checking up on me?"

"you'd not assume it was for theft?"

"no, does that make me paranoid?"

first point would be to call his bluff, ask for the tracker to be on her phone - is it her car or is it shared?

Is it a nice car, a car worth having a tracker on? Lots of people put trackers on their vehicles the only weird thing is that he didn't mention it.

As for him listening to her conversations, as others have said it was probably just picked up in the background and he happened to hear it.

Do people on here with GoPro's never ever go back and view the footage they've recorded? Of course you do.

This story could be creepy or it could be a couple of mundane every day occurrences that has been dramatized by women in an attempt to make their lives sound vaguely interesting.
