Paddy imminent.

Anyway, i've wheelied the BMW a few times, but every time the immediate thought train has been:
1) That was fun
2) Wait why did I do that headstock bearings are expensive
3) Ugh, BMW dry clutches are hard to replace too
4) Is that a police car behind me?
5) I'm never wheelieing again

Probably not the brightest idea until you've learned how to adjust a chain correctly, amongst other things.

My TTR is great for it, sometimes I do a good one and can go up through the gears, other times I go up and straight back down again. I'm too inconsistent as of this moment of time.

Don't have the confidence to try it on my bike. I have had the front wheel lift a few inches once or twice though.
Wish I could. I think there's a wheelie school round my way somewhere so may treat myself to some off road tuition.

Only ever done one, and that was not on purpose, took a old vfr out for a test ride for a mate.
put it in second to go round a bend which was a bit sharp but opened up to a lovely straight after, so I wound it wide open after the bend and then started wondering where the hell the road went Shocked . Was an interesting experience but not my idea of fun.

Not intentionally, it happens sometimes if i get a bit too enthusiastic with the throttle coming off a roundabout or tight bend but i tend bring it back down again quickly.
I've seen too many wheelies be landed with a crossed front wheel and the rider come off and the bike undress itself in a spectacular manner.

If a racer can f**k up a wheelie then what are my chances.

Did it on the R125, but one time I brought it down too hard because I got scared and the impact cracked the tabs off the boomerang fairings and belly fairings, making them vibrate/hang off.

Haven't done them ever since, especially since I don't want to abuse the clutch on my ninja or crack the fairings in the same fashion.

I used to think doing wheelies was cool.
I used to wheelie my supermoto for junctions on the motorway.
Then the police came to my house and tried to fuck my arse.

Now I think doing a wheelie while exiting a hairpin on a racetrack is cool...
The kinda wheelie that occurs because your tyres are sticky, and your bike has a fuck load of torque. Smile

I used to dump the clutch on my cbr125 10 yrs ago to get the front wheel up in 1st gear and it was alot of fun.

10 yrs later after driving cars and now recently passed das i have got the wheelie bug again!
At the moment im just doing them by rolling off the throttle then back on in 1st and the bike just lifts up,

Im getting better but only do 1 or 2 attempts during a rideout and only when its a clear stretch of road, dont want to get told off Smile
Once i have mastered them ill start dumping the clutch to bring the front up but i dont have the b*lls i used to all them years back more so because of how expensive it is for a mistake!

I did something rather similar at Snetterton (though I was straight up, at least).

Another rider pulled infront of me and slowed while the front was up, leading me to put it down a bit too hard.

Race bikes tend to have hard suspension and the 675 is particularly flighty. Take it sensible in controlled conditions and you should be fine.
Plenty of racers (the majority, if anything), don't really 'do' wheelies as far as club racers go, at least.

I have fitted a strap to my forks to stop the front from lifting when I launch as it costs me time getting it back under control.

I spent a while practicing clutch-ups on the Z1000, the ZX10R will lift the front in third at 100 so they're hard to avoid if you're being generous with the throttle.

I don't mind the front raising a bit under heavy acceleration, and I've had a fatty on the back cause me to be hoisted up into the air like I was on a see-saw when I accelerated from lights. But I don't do it often, rarely do it deliberately, and get the front back down as soon as it goes up.

But on topic. I don't do them because it's asking for trouble. It looks dangerous and to be honest I'd rather have 2 wheels on the floor.
