Hi All,

Would consider putting power commander on your bike ?

If anyone has, have you noticed any improvement with the map that dealer downloads and give it to you rather than custom map ?

I think my engine is running lean after putting a K&N filter and sp engineering exhaust and could be only matter of time before I blow the engine .

It is running rough on idle so thinking of doing this .

Guy claimed you gain about 4-8 bhp and if you get it with o2 sensor then it can adjust the map automatically.

If you have it , what is the increased insurance cost ?

Apologies if this has been covered before and need few rough ideas:)
Thanks

Me personally wouldn't be mentioning anything to insurance, always best off getting dyno time so its set for your bike.

I haven't mentioned my PC-V to insurance, fuck that. Insurance bod would have to rip her guts open to find it anyway.

When I installed a PC-III it was mostly a placebo effect confirmed as when I took it off I noticed no difference Laughing . According to the dyno it did smooth things out though.

I have 06 r6 track with pc5 and full racefit fit growler.

I have tried all the downloadable maps plus a live map, my current setup is stock exhaust took the pc out put the bike back to stock!
Why beacuse it has more torque at the mid range better for cornering.
The bggest improvement is loosing the decat box because its heavy.

Just my opinion save your cash,
If there was a diffirence it was in the high rpm range where i didnt notice it.

Yes thats the live map bike is 2006 model,
Only real way to tell its running lean is to get it on a dyno
Pretty sure mine is lean but they were happy with it
It was nothing dangerous.

Lean mixture causes the engine run hotter.

By the way, extra 4-8 hp? Hold your horses mister, you are wasting money here. An R6 is about 120 hp, you won't notice a difference of 4-8 hp, the odds are the bike is going to run even worse. Wink

I am worried it can mess the engine due to pops I am constantly hearing from the engine

hence why I said should I do it .

If pinging and knocking continues it can blow the engine or shorten its life , right ?

would you think a k&n filter and exhaust can lean the mixture that far ?

If not then why am I hearing popping sound from exhaust on close of throttle which suggests lean mixture and combustion in exhaust ?

long mission and don't have it Smile

it is a mess to remove the filter .

I am thinking of doing a dyno run as per earlier suggestion and find out whether it is lean or rich

one guy I spoke to claims commander is best and works like... and is smoth .

£445 fitted and the device is £280 on its own on ebay so seems like agood deal

What year is the R6?

Also, on the R6 owners forum, it's pretty well documented that the R6 runs like a shit with a K&N Filter, so most don't bother.

have done the power commnader mode and think the pipe has improved and have much better responsive across the ranges

This is for anyone whom sees this in future, I think power commander is worth the investment .

one question though, if anyone has done remapping , how long will they have the bike on dyno for ?

mine took less than 50 minutes for full map which seems to me they could have done better and it was done as quick job

Mine was on the dyno for a few hours for a custom map when I had a PCIII installed. This was years ago, so may have got a lot quicker since then what with autotune and stuff.
