Hi everyone, can someone please tell me if I leave my bike outside my house on the road covered up, do I need to have reflectors on the cover? All advice gratefully received.

That's the letter of the law if your interested, nothing about reflectors, I'd think that the number of people who know or actually do the above could be counted on one hand.

But the Highway Code offers a pretty decent translation into English.

Reflectors are not mentioned, only that lamps must be lit and unobscured.

Interestingly (to me) the The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 go to great lengths to describe the construction, layout and fixing of registration plates, but (as far as I can see) don't actually prohibit obscuring the plate by simply covering it.

You may cry common sense, but they also don't make any distinction (other than lighting while in use on a road) about the location of the vehicle. Under a cover on the road is no more obscured than parked tight against a wall, or behind a gate, or in a garage.

I think if it was law.the makers of covers would have to/ or would fit them ..
