Im trying to sell my Varadero to fund my big bike.
It needs some work and should sell for £900.
I have been offered a swap for a Zontes Panther and a few hundred quid.

I know feck all about the Zontes and what they are worth and how well they sell. So would this be a good swap or should i just hold out for a buyer??

More details can follow once i find out (mileage/age ect)

You want to sell the Vardero to fund towards a bigger bike.. why would you accept a few hundred and another bike of which is probably worth less than the vardero for it, you'll be at a loss.

I've seen a few Zontes models in the shop I use, sells lexmoto and second hand bikes also, can't say I've ever seen one in their workshop so either that means no one buys them or.. hmm.. Thinking

IMO only sell the vardero for cash, it's what you want after all.. unless you can offer the vardero and some extra cash yourself towards a bike you may see an advert for in a local shop, worth a try?

Agree with above. Why swap a Varadero for a Zontes. Thats downgrading big style. Either sell for cash of trade in.

I bet a dealer wouldn't want a Zontes as trade in anyway.

ok point taken.
Just want a quick sale, if the Zontes were really sought after it would have been worth it as i would make £100 in profit from this swap/sale.
Just gonna leave mine up and wait for a buyer.

Come on buyers.......where are you, i want my new bike......

Define 'some work'. That will help us know if £900 is a realistic figure or one plucked out of your arse.

Wouldn't touch a Zontes. Would rather tickle the balls of a homeless guy.

It sounds to me like the Zontes guy is in the same position as you - except he is the one with a bike he can't sell, and wants to mug you for one that will sell.

It's a trap - don't fall for it!

My dero is at 29000m
Has had over £300 in engine work with the new crank and bearing etc.

Only problems are the fairings need to be sanded and resprayed as i only went over them quick with some satin black after the cracks and breaks were repaired,
and the rear rocker cover needs 2x threads redoing after my mate decided that the bolts needed doing up with a half inch long bar........!!!!
So it now leaks a fair amount of oil.

If i spent the £200 needed to do the paint and threads it would be worth around £1400.

So asking £900 is fair i think.

Year?
Tyre / sprocket condition?
Length of mot?
Any service history?
Number of owners?
Just a few questions that a buyer would be wanting answers for. Asking for a valuation (which is in effect what you're after here) with so few facts is not likely to be helpful.
(Has the front sprocket had the well known BG1 weld mod done yet?

If it's cosmetically scruffy and is obviously leaking oil, you'll be lucky to shift it for more than sweetie money.

Thing is, you might get lucky. There are plenty of starry eyed Yoofs out there ready to weld-and-go.

Well i have just had a read through the book of lies (Haynes manual)
The rocker cover threads are in the Cam housings so are removable from the bike really easy.
Im going to whip them off today and get them re threaded then its just the paint work.
