A week is shit with what you are thinking. OK its not far but you are a few hours away from the tunnel, then hanging around to get on choo choo and get through France. You are now wasting a day before Spain and another day to get down south. Now OK you can hammer down slightly quicker but you are talking two days to get down to the likes of Lisbon and two days back. You are now left with three days of your holiday. Spending all day every day on the bike is not a tour. It quickly turns an enjoyable way of transport into a chore. Stick to the north of France or head to the Mosel Valley or Black Forrest where you dont spend all day riding. 300 miles max is a relaxing tour. I dont care what people say when they will wave at "I did 600 a day no problem" or whatever. Truth be told it was not enjoyable. I an in Cochem at the start of October if you fancy a beer. |
