Dole office paid for a telescopic forklift licence for me back in 2005 ish.

Never used it since as had an alternative offer shortly after completing.

Was fun though.

I did my course with ARC as mentioned before, can't remember the cost as it was 3 years ago now!

I still drive the reach truck in my warehouse, sometimes the counterbalance, too.

Funny thing is...not long after I had paid for the course, the bastards started training agency workers on site

I know for a fact that forklift training is hard, especially if you do not have prior knowledge when to take the training. I've been working as forklift operator for more than three years now, When I started working in this field, I was confused where to take my forklift license. It is imperative to have one, otherwise, you cannot be accepted for the job.

I found a website, that will teach beginners and experienced operator on how to apply for forklift license, take re-certification. https://forkliftlicenseguide.com

Whilst I know this thread has been raised from the dead and my no longer be relevant, just in case anyone finds themselves looking for this info:

I was until very recently an advisor/coach whatever you want to call it, whether these things will be paid for or not depends on local priority, training providers. JCP support for paid training courses changes every year, sometimes a flat out no, other times there is a big push for a particular partnership they have invested in locally. Whilst I worked for DWP and then for a private training company delivering the work programme, we set up some of these relationships with local companies and then tried to find ways of funding it as we knew there were alot of jobs that could result.

Long and short, its always worth asking them, or your coach if you are on a back to work scheme of any kind. Also, some employers also run salary sacrifice schemes to pay for the training and then recoup it from wages. Always worth asking the question of the employer, I have done so on the behalf of prospective applicants and found several willing to take on and then train but it is never guaranteed and rare.
