Where do these random inserts come from, I don't see anything about following anyone with high beams on? You seem to be under the impression that when you're filtering your sat behind someone with your high beams on trying to blind them!? When you filter your passing vehicles your lights are reflecting off their mirrors for an instant, your not at a fixed speed matching theirs aiming your lights at their mirror and if you are you shouldn't be filtering in the first place and should get back in your lane. You filter because the traffic is moving much slower than the speed limit or stationary, you shouldn't be filtering if the vehicles are moving at the legal speed limit. So passing vehicles in this manner would give a split second hit of light which I still struggle to see would "blind anyone". When your flashed at junctions or get flashed by by drivers for your courtesy on the road, I for one don't get blinded...

OP,

I bookmarked your weekend warriors link thinking it might be worth a look later on.

Reading your indefensible promotion of using full beam when filtering has me deleting your web bookmark, I simply would not be bothered giving it time as I know I would give more effort than I should need to scrutinising the validity of any suggestions or comments therein.

You started off pretty well on here, but clearly you cannot take on board constructive criticism, far less accept that you may be wrong or should at least re-consider your views based on comments received.

So you have never filtered along behind another bike? If you dare answer no I am going to call you a blatant liar or a non biker because every singe biker who has filtered has watched a bike go past and filtered along with them thinking "If they can get down there I can too!"

Now I am telling you here and now. Had you been filtering along behind me whilst I am filtering it would be the last time you do such a thing.

And as been said, you have been told many times you are wrong and why and yet you still insist you are right. It's not rocket science, it is illegal, which has been backed up, it is dangerous, which is common sense and you are an idiot, which has been established.

Take your bike website and get the fuck off BCF. We have our own idiots on here and you are not one of them.

I certainly wouldn't want to be filtering with high beams. Two dipped lights have proved enough to be politely noticed so far.
Having high beams on suggests to me a rider demanding to be let through, not one simply wanting to be more visible. It suggests an I'm right you're wrong attitude that no doubt will prove interesting in future bike versus lorry scenarios.

If you have never been dazzled by someone with high beams on then you are either very lucky, or have your mirrors at such an angle that they do you no good. I suggest you go and sit in a car and get a mate to sit on a bike with high beams on, then come back and tell us how annoying it is.

You seem to be very focused on the side of traffic that you are filtering with, what about traffic that may be coming the other way?? It's okay to blind them while they drive towards you?

I leave my light's on but never high beam's unless i'm on a road with no oncoming traffic and i'm not sat behind someone.

You may not hear cager's complain but how many time's have you stopped and asked any of them??

If you want a decent resource for sharing riding advice/pictures/general biking goodness, you found it when you signed up to this site!!

Driving / riding with your full beams on is a very quick and easy way to piss off everyone else using the roads.

Did he have high beams on? If so and you didn't get dazzled I'm calling bullshit. You must be the only person the the whole world who never gets dazzled by full beam lights in your mirror, so either you have got crap eye sight or your superman. I would bet my life that if I asked everyone who is on this site if they have ever been dazzled by some idiot with full beams on behind them, then you would be the only person to reply no.

filtering past the cars one is coming the other way they can just see bright light cant see the bike behind it and bang you are on the floor splatted and squashed

So you never filter past stationary traffic if its a single lane road (one lane going each way)

You never specified that this was just for two lane filtering in which case you're still wrong!

You're trying to give advice to people, however your first point is wrong as pointed out in the highway code.

Dipped beam = Yes, High Beam = No.

All other advice you give from now on will automatically be written off as incorrect.

Are you sure about that? Being a police-led project, guidance will - or at least should - come from Motorcycle Roadcraft. In that book there's a section on filtering that says 'make yourself visible - consider using dipped headlight' (my emphasis). I'd be genuinely surprised if plod, and/or a ROSPA or IAM member is suggesting using high beam.
