Evening all,

It's that time again - new brake pads are needed!

Now normally I'd buy EBC however a friend of mine has recommended Goldfren pads. Never heard of them before so has anybody used them before? What grade did you use? S3, SS or AD?

Cheers guys Thumbs Up

I have personally used some Goldfren pads recently on my VTR1000 - purchased from ebay! I used the sintered HH (labeled as AD) pads. My impression on these pads are that they are a reasonable mid-budget pad. Sure, the bike stops fine with them, but they aren't quite as good as the EBC HH ones I usually use too - but note the difference is minimal. I would purchase them again and providing that you aren't going to be using your bike for track days or any serious racing, then yes, I would recommend them as a reasonably priced set of pads.

Nicely done Thumbs Up it seems I can pick up a set of Goldfren pads Front and Rear for less than £25, however a full set of EBCs would set me back around £40. This seems like a venture worth partaking in... Definitely am not going to be using my tugboat of an NC700X on track days so I think I should be good. Cheers buddy Cool

I have had a few sets of the sintered ones, no problems here. As above, good mid-range pads. I've never liked EBC to be fair, if I had to spend EBC prices on brake pads I'd buy SBS.

I've heard stories about there being knock-off Goldfren pads on ebay, so I've always bought mine from Busters to be sure of getting the real ones.

Me, no real issues. Not as much bite as I'd like but in terms of £ for value and use, I'll use them again.

I prefer the sintered and S33's compared to EBC's on the bandit

Agreed Thumbs Up If you like the feel of EBC pads then Goldfren will seem fine.

If you want a budget pad then go with the Goldfren, but ask yourself why are you skimping on brake parts?. If you want a quality pad (and I can't recommend them enough) then get a set of SBS sintered in there. They have nice initial bite and a good feel when hot.

I've got an almost-dead set of HH pads on my VTR1000. They feel fairly good and stop pretty well, however they are very dusty. They've covered about 8k miles.

Not that keen on them. Had some on my busa when I wasn't too flush with money and they were awful. Tocico 6 pots mind.

I like Armstrong sintered pads. Cheaper than EBC but the best ones I ever fitted were Bendix. They were top of the range and bloody expensive though.

Put some on the ZX9R and they felt awful, but actually stopped the bike fine. Even had me doing a stoppie when some idiot ran out in front of me.

They felt very wooden though and didn't have great initial bite. They also seemed to disintegrate pretty easily.

Wouldn't use again.

For a lot of people regardless of bike braking is all about feel.

I changed at set of 200mile old Bendix pads for a set of EBC as I prefer the feel and initial bite of the EBC. Plus the Bendix squealed during soft braking.
