Lord Sewel has reportedly resigned as deputy speaker of the House of Lords after being caught on video allegedly taking drugs with prostitutes

Quote:
Press Association reports Lord Sewel has also quit as chairman of the Lords privileges and conduct committee in the wake of the Sun on Sunday's story.

The footage showed him snorting powder from a woman's breasts with a £5 note.

Lords Speaker Baroness D'Souza said his behaviour was "shocking" and that she was referring him to the police.

The crossbench peer had been responsible for enforcing standards in the Upper House.

well we now know what his standards are Thumbs Up

That is pretty shocking. Did he really not have anything bigger than a £5 note to use?

Oh, Scootch.

I think it's funny how the woman is described as a prostitute in most papers but the dear old Guardian (Observer) calls her a "sex worker".

Maybe he doesn't think it's ok. And like anyone else who does it, was taking a gamble he'd not get busted.

Nope.

Buying and selling sex is not currently illegal in the UK but soliciting, pimping, brothel-keeping and kerb-crawling are all criminal activities.

Lord Sewell, the disgraced member of the House of Lords who was videoed snorting cocaine off a prostitute’s breasts, has submitted an expenses claim for the five pound note he used to inhale the drugs.

The peer was forced to resign today, but before he did that, he submitted the following expenses claim:

£5 – Banknote charge for use of intoxicants
£296 – Use of prostitutes to unwind from stressful life as a member of House of Lords
£50 – 1 gram of cocaine for use in entertaining guests

The BBC news wrote:
Lord Sewel is said to have described Mr Cameron as "the most facile, superficial prime minister there's ever been", and Mr Johnson as "a joke".
He is also said to have called Scottish MP Alex Salmond "pompous", and claimed the reason former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair took the decision to go to war in Iraq was "because he fell in love with George Bush".

I'm having a hard time disliking the guy thus far.

This story is clearly fake, as others have cited, there's no way a member of the Lords would carry a fiver.

It's short for "empowered feminist survivor of male enslavement in the sex trade".

Given that his misdemeanors are on tape, audio and video, why are radio news bulletins reffering to "alleged" misdemeanors?
He's on tape, laughing, saying he's using public money to pay for his peccadilloes, what's "allegedly" about it?

Silly me, I forgot the "just because I make the law, doesn't mean I have to adhere to it" clause.

I can see the "Ernest Saunders" Defence looming in to view some time soon, as well!

It's not really much different from a traffic cop doing 75mph on a motorway.

I will deduct points from him for being either naive, or egotistical.
No prostitute, while doing blow with a client, is going to ask "so Mr X, what are your views on David Cameron".

If you're reasonably high up in the establishment, your first thought should be "where is the camera".
