Hi folks.

Killed my 750 in dramatic style a couple of weeks ago with a Toyota Aygo so on the prowl for a replacement.

Every road seems to lead back to another 750 but wanted to check that I havent forgotten to check under some stone somewhere else.

My off wasnt speed or power related so happy sticking with 750cc / 150ish bhp and happy with a sports bike so where am I looking as a replacement on the same level or a bit further up the food chain.

Price bracket £7k give or take on something 2010+ ideally.

Thanks

Rikki

The only option you have -other than another GSXR 750- is an 899 Panigale, but you're looking at about £10k for a good used one.

What turns you off the idea of a litre bike? Some great bikes available for £7k...

Actually come to think of it, what about a 1098? It's got similar top end power to a GSXR 750 but more torque, they also look amazing.

GSXR1000 K6

Don't look back. That or grab a 2011 Street Triple and an off roader for fun.

I have the GSXR100 K5 which is basically the same - a few cosmetic changes I believe. The only other option I'm considering is a street triple.

I still miss my GSXR K5 1000, If I was looking for a bike I'd consider getting a K5/6 1000 again but only if it was a minter.

Did you prefer it to your S1000RR? If so, why?

I've mentioned it many times on here, I hated it. I couldn't gel with it at all despite the S1K being based on the K5.
I could belt round knockhill as fast as i could possible go on the K5, i tired the same on the S1K and i crashed once and the next time i ended up with a massive 120-130mph tankslapper. after that i had no confidence in the bike. I wasn't anywhere near as quick on the S1K as i was on the K5.
Quality issues galore. both bar controls failed at separate times, after 500 miles the left went then 4000miles the right. Corrosion in the fuel tank, shite quickshifter that caused lengthy cuts in power, missed gear changes and false neutrals which i later found out is caused by the shit quickshifter damaging the gearbox.
There were other issues but i think my subconscious is purposely causing me to forget about this period of ownership.
Got shot of it in the end with some financial loss just to get it to fuck.

The reviews are always favourable because journos don't want to hurt BMW's feelings which in turn stops BMW giving them test bikes, Mag reviews are done in the space of a few days so the reviewers never see these problems. I believed the hype.
