Seems to be a new thing. I live in Sheffield so whichever way I go on the M1 I have to sit through endless miles of 50mph limit to protect three blokes having a coffee and some egg sandwiches on the hard shoulder. Now currently made worse by these chummy fucking signs.

My favourite being "You may not always see us". Captain obvious to the rescue.

Are these elsewhere in the country?

They're building a new fire station down the road from me.
There's a Bob the builder style sign up telling us what considerate contractors they are.
Gives you something to spit at while you're stuck at the temporary lights I suppose.
The mascot is called Ivor Goodsite. What a bunch of arse.

It just makes me want to draw a knob on it..... Thinking and see how long until they notice...

I was going to say he should be wearing gloves while handling that wooden sign.... until I noticed he was missing his pinkies

Hairy chinballs. Hand

No, we're still on the stern black-on-yellow "PICKING UP LITTER RISKS ROADWORKERS LIVES" signs.

No apostrophe. Rage building...

And I've never seen anyone picking up litter there, ever.

As above, lucky if you even see that many. It's traffic chaos round Château Borg at the moment with road closures and lanes coned off on the alternate routes. Fortunately the local Farce seem to have given up on road policing so I'm taking the attitude that if I can get through a coned off area without mashing up Ivor Goodsite, I will do so, zero-fucks gangsta stylee. Bringing the biking community world brotherhood into disrepute, so sad. Crying or Very sad

I picked up the litter collecting around my front path over the weekend - does this mean I've quadraspazzed some workmen? Cool.

Noticed a couple of these sorts of things on the roadworks on the M3.

Pretty pointless but hey.. it's only money.

Ironically, they're an unnecessary distraction so essentially have the opposite effect of what they should have. Laughing

Unfortunately I haven't got, nor can I find a photo of my favourite, pointless, road sign.
There are a few of them round here, black on yellow, with the words:-

STREET LIGHTS NOT WORKING

I've yet to work out what anyone is supposed to do with this information.
If it's daylight the information is irrelevant.
If it's already dark you'll have your lights on.
If it's dark and you haven't got your lights on you won't be able to read the sign anyway! Doh!

Pointless sign is pointless!

Stops 550 people ringing each night to report street lights not working.

I quite like the ones on the illuminated signs on the M25.

Clear as anything, steaming through on a sunday night -

'PICK UP YOUR LITTER'

Riiiiiighto...

Think yourself lucky, our local plod are wanting to harrass...er, I mean, have a friendly chat with us bikers and will no doubt be pulling us over to do so.

They'll also be giving away a free biker related gift, probably in the form of a FPN.

Those stupid "20 is plenty" signs that get stuck up around 30 zones.

20 is not fucking plenty it is 10 under the limit. They normally have childish cartoons on them too because "think of the children".

To be fair, that's not a pic I've taken. It's a stock photo but the hi viz wearing 4 fingered weirdo signboard is identical.

Having had 48hrs of solid rain and at least another 48hrs forecast, I think the time slot for "summer" has well and truly past. The "summer crackdown" should be over by now! Wink
