Hi,

Not sure where to post this, I have had an ongoing insurance claim since mid 2013. It's now got to the point where I met the barrister and it was of his opinion that I would not fair well in court.

I have received his value of my claim from my solicitor, which is absolute madness. I have brought this to his attention and he is going to reevaluate the value. He feels it's best to give them a value and see if they pay out.

Am I able to change companies at this point? Or will I have to wait out now until conclusion. I must stress that the case has not been easy for my solicitors. Liability is still being disputed now.

Thanks.

Absolutely you are. You don't need representation at all.

Liability is a lottery with bikes, we've had very similar situations decided both for and against us. There's no right or wrong answer about what to do. It might even go better for you if you represent yourself and just explain what happened in a credible way. Or it might not. Sorry, there are no guarantees.

Is there some sort of calculator online which can show rough values for injuries? I think it's madness but perhaps for the situation etc it may be satisfactory to most.

Thanks.

well, the ambulance chasers have calculators, but of course they'll tell you you could get 5 figures even for minor injury's...
they'll want the business

e.g. (this is one of many)

Here is a list of the values for personal injury claims, https://www.actons-solicitors.co.uk/injury-values

Most of money in big claims come from future/ongoing care costs, not pay outs from the actual pain or injury suffered.

for instance very serious brain injury resulting in full potato might be a total of 6m, but only circa 400k for the actual injuries the rest would be to pay for carers and and things for the rest of your life, plus lost ernings etc

White dalton. They seem to be one of the only ones who give true and realistic advice on motorcycle injury claims... They often seem to be better than the so called legal advice given out by insurers etc.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
