 |
|
Hi everyone,
Long time lurker, first time poster, just passed my Mod 2 on a CBF600 first time with a minor for poor planning for mistaking a bend in the road for a T-Junction (I put that one down to test nerves). It's something of a small miracle seeing as two days ago I managed to drop the bike on a training ride while trying to get around a bus ...
Grateful for all the stuff I've read on here about treating it as just a ride out, so thanks forum!
Now I just need to work out how to gain some actual confidence solo riding on my XJ-6 when I pick it up in a few days

I preferred the Mod 1 (two weeks ago to the day),as it was a pure test of my ability, if I failed it would have just meant that I needed to practice more and try again, no big deal. Being on the road the Mod 2 seemed far more unpredictable, as you can't vouch for another road user forcing you into a fail state through no fault of your own, although in practice I was perfectly capable of messing it up by myself without 3rd party help and it really just ended up down to my ability to deal with emerging situations, but it's hardly a tranquil experience, and I completely accept that I was lucky that nothing much out of the ordinary happened.
The trick I learnt from the Internet that I needed for the swerve test on Mod 1, btw, but wasn't taught on training for some reason I don't really understand, was countersteering. Controlling the bike's lean angle with the handlebars and not my balance made it so much more agile and much easier as a result. |

Congratulations!!
I remember my MOD 2 test day........ confident in the morning, until i stalled at a junction on a right hand turn, where the camber was going down to the right. Of course my left foot was on the ground & by the time i switched feet, it was too late.....
Bike down snapped brake lever...... had to rush back to the training centre to repair, only just managed to make my test time!!
Passed with 1 or 2 minors ..... phew!
Picked my Thundercat up a couple of weeks later, had to ride it through the city, i was shitting myself
Managed to get through to the open roads, then ____________________ Previous Bike: Skyjet SJ27
