Well I passed on Thursday 23rd July... finally... just thought I should mention it on here as I said i would many months ago.
Just in time before my theory ran out as well.

Now to save up for a bike...
Any ideas... has to be A2 compliant
Really want a pointy sv650, but i need to save up a bit for that...
Perhaps something older and cheaper in the meantime to get me on the road and get those all important ncb.

Depends what you want it for, weekend riding or all year round commuting?

Budget for the bike?

I'll be at a similar point in the near future my viewpoint at current is that going with something cheap to get me by will aid me towards deciding what I do and don't like in a bike until I finally have a good idea of what I really want to pour a shed load of money into.

Hmmm, probs just for fun atm , and maybe commuting to university when the time comes.

Budget unknown tbh, but no more than 2k i would say

I like what i did my test on and learned on.. all upright naked bikes.

But I like the look of sports bikes... but not sure if i would feel comfortable on one.. having sat on my dad's cbr1100... seems abit too much for my liking. Might be just the fact I'm not used to it.

I'm used to the upright position of my CBF and I too like the look of sports bikes. After just sitting on a few bikes with sporty positions I thought I just wouldn't be able to get used to it. However, after actually riding a Hyosung GT250R and a YZF-R125 I came to the conclusion that getting used to it after just riding one is pretty easy. I had the opportunity to ride a GSXR 1000 which has a riding position that is worlds apart from my bike but I hadn't taken my MTFU pills prior to the event and I (regretfully) declined the offer.

You definitely need a bike. It would drive me batshit having passed my test w/nothing to ride. Just look for anything 250cc and over in good condition, a grand will by something good. But £750 can bag you a 100mph bike. I got a clean cb500 for that. Unglamorous as fuck and shopping trolley stigma but it's utterly indefatigable. Pile the miles on, cut yer teeth, suss out how to chuck it about. Be good prep for a il4 600 or bigger.

Hmmm , that's given me an idea to test ride a few small sporty bikes , perhaps a ninja 300 or something, just to see how i feel.
Oooh I would have done the same thing with the opportunity of a gxsr1000... although one day I would like a litre bike of some sort.

You can get naked or faired SV650 in very good condition and low miles for less than 2k, for example:

You have said you like sports but not sure. How about sport tourers - have a sports engine and brakes and got relaxed position like Honda VFR or say Yamaha FZS 600 like this one:

IMO the Fazer will be the best value for money you can get a good one for £1200 for £2000 you will find excellent.

Thanks for that, will look into them...I did love the fazer even tho I failed on an attempt at mod 2., if I want searching for a car as well my budget would be much better.

If I was looking for an A2 bike, I'd probably go for something CB500-like.

Since you said you like the sporty look, maybe a CBR500R? Not sure whether your budget will stretch that far, but worth looking at!

Yeah can't afford a cbr500r unfortunately.
But thanks anyways, might be awhile before I actually get something, I'm rather fussy like that.
