this the only thing That I miss being on a Bike Vs being in a car, not being able to listen to music or radio,

Once I go past the 60mph the wind and bike noise make it impossible to listen to anything,

is there anyway to improve that experience ? Helmet ? speakers ?

Thanks

Custom in-ear headphones, they do cost a fair whack tho. Looking at £150 for a set that gives decent quality sound.

These are all you'll ever need. I use them nearly every day. You're welcome.

These work well, but I normally use a starcom1 intercom with wired speakers in my helmet. Even with good earplugs I can listen to music and satnav on the motorway with the helmet speakers, though fidelity suffers.

Keep in mind the problem - the wind noise. Now, by adding speakers into the helmet, you effectively need to overcome that wind noise with uh... more noise. That's going to cause serious hearing damage pretty quickly.

I use a pair of these - https://www.whathifi.com/shure/se425/review. The passive sound isolation is really good, if I don't feel like listening to music, I'll often just use them as earplugs. They fill the inside of your ear and hook over the top, so they sit flush, don't protrude and cause pressure in the ear like some other models may-

https://shure.custhelp.com/ci/fattach/get/39060/0/filename/earphone3.jpg

Shure do offer cheaper models starting from about £90 that fit in the same way, they just use different internal drive units.

Because they're fairly high sensitivity and the sound isolation is good, you don't really need to turn the volume up too high to hear music clearly. Even doing long motorway runs with my ZX10R (Racefit can), I don't need the volume on my phone much over half-way to hear the music clearly even up to stupid speeds.

In ear are fine if they fit in your ear. But if you have small ear canals then they'll possibly chaff after a bit of constant use.
Ear pain registers V high on the Richter scale.

I was so anal about sound I invested a month's salary in a Schuberth C3.

Expensive junk some may say but the Comms system (Scala) works almost perfectly. Even with my High-End Custom ear-protection shoved in my lugholes.

Oh and if you travel through Franse you'll be breaking/braking the law if wearing an external sound system. Smile

I use SoundMAGIC E10S in-ear headphones. Best headphones I've ever found for the price. You can get them cheap from AliExpress (Chinese eBay Thumbs Up)

Normal in-ear headphones can be painful to wear depending on the padding inside your helmet. If you want comfortable in-ear headphones that give decent quality sound and reduce wind noise then proper custom moulded ones is what you're after.
I can't wear normal in-ear headphones because i have a race replica lid and the padding is too close to my ears, it is rather painful to wear them and I'd need to cut some of the padding away and I'm sure as f**k not doing that.

No radio or passenger to turn it on is the best thing about taking the bike.

Whilst expensive, I've recently purchased a scala g9x Bluetooth device. Without earplugs at regular commuting speeds through the city centre, I need to turn the volume down as it can get uncomfortably loud.
Long riding of sustained motorway speeds circa 70mph(...) with earplugs in and at max volume it's just about loud enough to hear. What I mean by that is music is fine but talk radio gets drowned out by wind noise a bit.

I've used in ear phones in the past but find them a bit of a kerfuffle to sit in my ears properly, the scala is a great piece of kit. Thumbs Up

Sigh, this again. These from Ching Chong China for less than £5 are great and work well upto 90mph.

Motorway wind noise plus these turned up loud enough for the music to be audibility must be painful to listen to surely? Seems like a very cheap way to get hearing damage.

I'll still stick with my 10 quid Sony earphones with the cheap squishy earplug material (I'd have found the proper name for them, but can't be bothered), I found they block out (almost all of) the wind noise up to 80mph, and even up to 120mph there is a serious battle going on with noise/music. But then I normally wear a medium helmet even though it should be an extra small, so I'd normally put a hood up which reduces the wind noise even more

This is a constant struggle for me, i've got some nice wee sennheiser buds and some akg buds, both have decent isolation, inline iPhone controls, the sound is excellent, both came in at around 50 quid but the problem being that as soon as I start moving my head they gradually work their way out, they couldn't last longer than 30 mins on a good day. It's terribly frustrating. I was considering buying a SENA comms system and use that and ear plugs to drown out the noise of the bike some. Has anyone tried this? Failing that i'm gonna check out those shure ones Albigularis mentioned, they seem like they might work.

Scala rider! noise cancelling and turns the volume up the faster you go, not to mention the functionality with your phone, seamless transition between everything you need. Only downside is the missus can get hold of you whilst you ride.

Am I the only one that uses the standard earphones you get with your mobile phone then? I stick Spotify on and I'm good. It could be slightly more comfortable than it is, but it's not painful.

Not sure about him, but I set the volume to a comfortable level whilst I'm off the bike (the same volume I'd listen at normally) and I do not find I have to increase it as I ride at all. The earphones work like earplugs to external noise whilst delivering a safe level of sound to the ear.
