I recently went to the MCN london bike show, and they were showing this Multi-spark thing, it is suppose to give your bike five sparks instead of one, giving better performance and making your fuel last longer, and better starting etc.

https://www.fuelcat.co.uk/multispark.html

Has anyone heard of this before? The voltage before and after the unit has been installed is the same, it just splits it into five sparks.

I've heard they make good spark plugs, but I've also read peoples comments/recommendations else where not to use it if you've got say your car is converted to AutoGas because it seems that the new type of fuel and a Spitfire plug is a no, no, because there's a chance that the spark plug's elements may actually melt due to thinness of the new fuel and the spark plug creates more heat than a normal plug would due to the multi-sparking/v sparking!

It's not a new spark plug, its a unit that make's your original spark plug have five sparks.
I just wondered wheather it's a load of crap, or if it's worth a try.

Hi

Splitfire plugs are cheap Autolite plugs with a split electrode. Might give a better life, but might well cause other problems. Think they are one of those companies who have had to change their US advertising due to dodgy claims for performance.

As to the Spitfire thing, not a clue. Doubt it does do anything as far as multiple sparks, and even if it did I would doubt it would be of any great benefit. First spark large enough to ignite the mixture will do so, and after that the stuff around the spark plug is not going to be that flammable.

Suspect in reality it is just a capacitor, the idea being that it generates a larger spark.

All the best

Keith
