Sold my GSXR yesterday Sad , it seems you no longer need to post off the physical, signed V5C/Logbook when selling the bike and informing the DVLA of a new registered keeper.

You go on the website between 8AM-6PM and follow the stages, I did it this morning and after finishing it said I should destroy the document. Being a bit suspicious i phoned later in the afternoon to check, at first the call centre person did not realize this was a thing, but after double checking it showed me as the previous keeper already, I took a colour photocopy of both sides to cover myself and shredded the document.

While it was more convenient I wonder if there are any issues here now that it seems a signature is not required (not that this was foolproof before).

Why not just keep the original document?

I've recently used this service myself and can inform you all that it actually works! Not only that, but my tax refund also turned up a few days later too! Very Happy
