Ybr125 2014. Cutting out when putting into first gear

Iv not long recently bought my ybr125 2014. It was a class c insurance Job. So I thought it would be fine Been fixed just little damage to plastics. But after a week of having it its starting cutting out. It happens when I go on quick run somewhere then I turn it off but when I turn it back on it starts but then putting it into first gear the check engine light flashes and just dies off. It also happens sometimes when iv been riding for about 10 mins then go to park and trying to put it into neutral and then dies before I can find it. Also after during it doesn't start unless it's in neutral.

Sounds like its the sensor that picks up if your clutch is held in. To stop noobs (and experianced alike) from starting the bike in gear.

Around the clutch leaver there will be a little button that is pressed when you pull the leaver in. Check its function and then the cable it connects to is connected, etc...

Next, check your manual.

I'm not sure you need to have the clutch pulled in to start it...?

There's a neutral switch next to the front sprocket and a side stand switch lower down - that will either prevent starting or kill the engine if a gear is selected... If you get no joy on the clutch might be worth checking (or shorting out) one of those?

Agreed - I should have been clearer. There is a switch, but it's not the one causing OP's problem
