Few minutes of my favourite part of Hartside Pass. Bonus clip at end, dodgy clip but epic sound I reckon.

Much prefer the route up the others side.

Bonus clip, how fast were you going then? Or any guesstimate on their speed?

Looks like your body hangs over the white line on the right handers, could just be the camera making it look like that. Love SM would get a smaller one if it was not for living in the sticks. Cool video. Thumbs Up

We were only doing about 50, just waiting for a mate to catch up. I'd guess they were doing 120 at least. Caught them up just before the bridge at the end. The other side's a bit too boring for an SM, I'm usually flat out the whole time, engine screaming away.

Probs trick of the camera, I'm crap at right hand bends though, mental block on them, think it's to do cars being over the line in the past, especially caravans, don't trust anyone. Downside to the chesty mount is doesn't show where you're looking, just where you're going.

The western side was carefully designed on an almost constant gradient so that horses could make it to a mine or quarry.
The result was far more sweeping bends so it's usually considered the best ride especially going up.

Always easier going up, Kirkstone Pass is a scary one going down Shocked

There's an info board at the cafe I think with the history of it. Sure it was rated one of the worst roads in the UK at one point due to too many bends Laughing
