2005 R1 clutch rattle

Hi,

A mate has just bought a 2005 R1. It has a rattle from the clutch area that disappears when the clutch is pulled in, and doesn't rise when revs rise. He has been told 'they all do that...' but I'm not so sure. Anybody else experienced this and know what it is likely to be?

mine does too.. but its hardly noticeable ... what it is not sure ... possibly clutch plates banging against the basket..

Like with carbs,throttle valves on injector bodies need balancing.

My brother did this on his Gixer 1000 recently and he said it made a big differance

Just a noisy clutch basket, you could sort it but chances are it'll just come back six months later. It's not harming so learn to live with it. And if not, rev moar!

Seems quite a common thing, but a nicely balanced set of throttle bodies with a silky smooth idle helps to make it less noticeable.
