Hi,

Here's a topic that I haven't seen a in forum before nor reviews in a magazine and so maybe through yourselfs or links to a site that does have information showing which is the better brake pads for a motorcycle.

Ferodo

EBC

and any other makes you can think of which gives a good balance between stopping power and not wearing out to quickly through average use on town roads/motorways?

Depends on the bike.

MCN and RiDE regularly test brake pad effectiveness. Only one make ever comes up better than OE and that is Carbone Lorraine SBK pads.

This only usually happens on one or two of the bikes tested - usually supersports bikes.

RiDE usually test at least two bikes (an all rounder and a 600) and MCN and sometimes BiKE test about five bikes.

This has been the same for the six years I have been reading bike mags, and each mag usually does a test once every 1-2 years.

So basically either go really expensive or go for OE.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Hi

Depends on the bike and the useage.

Used EBC HH pads in a few bikes. Worked brilliantly in the little RS125, good in the FZ750, a bit better than OE or normal EBC pads in the 1200 Bandit and were frighteningly bad in the Bimota.

Currently got some Armstrong pads in the Bandit. I was in a hurry and they were available. I didn't expect much from them, but they are about the same as the normal EBC pads in road use with no problems with fade, but have so far lasted almost 20000 miles (about double the life of the OE, normal EBC or HH EBC pads with the same rider on the same bike).

All the best

Keith

I like ferodo platinums - bear in mind my only experience has been these, EBC normalss, and very, very old OE pads, I don't have a great frame of reference.

Anyway, good pads, better than EBC normals and longer lasting.

Having tested EBC-HH and Carbone Loraine SBK 3 back to back on track, I would say the Carbone Loraine were noticeably better.

Ill see how the Ferodo holds up over time and I'll keep note of what you've said for future reference and see if they are any better for me when I need to replace the Ferodo.

Thx
