Effective 3-way radio?

Hi everyone, so my myself and two friends have been going on quite a few longer trips recently and are wondering what would be the best form of in-helmet communication?

I imagine they're limited by their range, but mostly they'd be used if we're in cities and get separated at lights or junctions. We've had a few occasions where we've lost sight of each other and there's nowhere suitable to pull up and wait. When you're in an unknown place and the leader you've been relying on has disappeared it can be quite time consuming to get back to them!

So which radios are best? Or are they not worth bothering with at all?

It would also be quite nice just to be able to chat while cruising along on the long roads.

You could try a Interphone headset , get one each as they can talk to multiple people at the same time , we use them on our trips , we'll worth the money .
They will also connect to other makes which is cool .
Also has a radio , strangely I use it a lot and didn't think I would .

while the Scale 9gx does look amazing, it is definitely beyond our price range at the moment (something for the future maybe).

But the Interphone headsets seem good - are they limited to just 2 way communication? Even so, would be good for rider-to-pillion chat.

Bike 2 Bike Communication.... where to start
Basically there's 1/4w Argos / Maplin PMR Walkie-Talkies; that are relatively cheap, and common, but low powered. 4w CB Radio is more expensive (but not as expensive as high-end PMR), that has better range and reliability, but not used by so many people and can be a bit bulkier. then there's "blue-tooth" devices that are even less powerful than PMR, but may eek a bit of extra 'effective' range from digital transmission; OR you have your mobile telephone... that's about all the 'off the shelf' options in the UK.
BUT starts with the headsets; old hi-fi addage, "shit in, shit out" headsets where comunications starts and ends, so if the ear-hone & mic are crap wont matter how great the radio handling the signal is.
Budget £20-£30 for that, and then cheaper, sub £50 a handset radios start to seem a bit of a false ecconomy.... and to get bike-to-bike comms that stand a chance of being 'useful' and so actually get used, you probably ought to be looking at something in the order of about £80 per person...

They are not bad for the money and work pretty well at motorway speeds and can be used with mobile phone and as a radio.

if you buy cheapo you are literally throwing money away. i've tried some budget sets, around £50-£80 and they are useless at speeds over 30mph.

If you actually want to be able to hear each other then spend some cash.
