Help with rescue dogs

So me and the missus got a pair of boxers , the bitch is 6 and the lad is 5 and half.

We got them straight from their owner as for the time been we are just fostering.

Problem is they have had a couple of fights but weve figured its because we have been fussing the lad more as hes shy and timid but because the bitch is king dick shes been proving it to him by scrapping.

We havent been paying them much attenion till they get settled.

Ive had the week off work letting them get used to me getting them into a rotuine etc walking them 4 times a day and they are fine , they do what i say etc im the king dick then its the bitch then him.

Now when the missus is home the bitch is mega grumpy and growling under her breath . If he leaves a room she wont let him come back in etc theres a real tension from the bitch . They wont go near each other at all .

But as soon the missus goes upstairs she settles down instantly and gets on the rug with him straight away.

Any tips? Ive had dogs all my life even in pairs but not fostered/rescued before and we dont really know what we should be doing when the bitch gets moody . I read we should ignore her but its hard when shes been a right cunt to the laddo for no reason.

They didnt eat for the first couple of days but the lad is eating now but she still wont eat and as soon as food gets put down , head goes up her arse again.

Sounds to me like the bitch needs taking down a peg or two in the pecking order.

You might be top dog but your missus isn't alpha female as far as the bitch is concerned.

Personally (and I have only had German Shepherds in pairs) I would get your and your wife's authority stamped on the bitch straight away.

How you do it, well, everyone has there own ideas on that.

Your other half needs to start doing the feeding and walking especially of the butch and then moving to both.

Does the female rarely listen to your partner's commands but does yours? If so, it could be that the dog doesn't respect her.

I agree with Sickpup that she should take a more active role in the feeding/walking. However I think that if your partner also engages in a lot of at-home training, that can also help form a bond.

Me and my partner roughly equally feed our foster dog, and I take him on 90% of his walks. She, however, does a lot of training at home. Thought it certainly helps that my foster dog loves company and anybody with a treat in their hand.

Thanks for the replies ill have to get her on with the training at home then if its me doing all the walking and poo picking up !

Also i joined a boxer dog forum and posted the exact same thing and the first and only reply was " delete this "
