After 3 lessons totalling about 3-4 hours of mod 1 practice I passed the test today. I have been Struggling with the U turn but this morning on the practice and on the test I nailed it all without any minors Smile

Time to get my mod 2 booked and done, it is quite costly I believe paying for the instructor to take you down there and use their bike Sad Hopefully i can nail it first go.

Got my mod 2 booked, the wait times and price of it including bike rental from the school is annoying Sad

Congrats but that U-turn exercise is total BS.

Ye it shows bike control but anyone no matter how experience will put there foot down once then bam instant failure.
Probably been said a million times but the DSA are money grabbing pricks.

Why would you put your foot down on a u-turn?

Its not that you want to but you will do if you do enough u-turns; especially if you are learning.
I usually put both my feet down if I have to make tight slow u-turns; I drive a bike that can weigh up to 300kg fully laden and it makes me feel a lot more stable.

It should be taken in context rather than being an insta-fail. I can't think I've ever heard of anyone failing a mod 1 on totted up minors, it's always a major.

Contrast with the car test, which has dropped the strict "3 point" turn in favour of "a turn in the road using forward and reverse gears". No, no, take your time.

I wonder what their position would be if you stood on the pegs? Thinking Wink

The thought of dropping the bike is enough for me to concentrate on doing it right.

Having said all that, I don't attempt u-turns on the Triple unless the road is at least 50 yards wide. For all its agility, the turning circle is shocking.

Sure, it could be either.

There are enough other elements in mod 1 for an examiner to make a decision in the round.

Well done. Don't go forgetting what you learnt for mod 1 though, I had to do a U-Turn on my Mod 2 and I hadn't practiced the things since passing Mod 1 to say it made me a little uneasy is an understatement (took a wrong turning, ended up on some industrial estate road, so examiner pulls me over and tells me "Just swing her around" Shocked, yeah ... "Just"!!!).
