I have a chest infection and am on antibiotics and painkillers as the coughing hurt my old rib fractures.
The instructions on the antibiotics are clearly on the label on the packet that the pharmacist printed out "One three times a day" but on the Co-codamol just say "WELL.". what does this mean please?

It means you should call the quack (or just google 'how much co-codamol is too much')

Aside, and apologies if you know this, but you should finish that course of antibiotics or else you'll end civilisation. No pressure.

I expect it just means that the pharmacist probably didn't check for typos before printing the label.

I am a community pharmacist.

The instructions on your co-cod are what we technically know as a "cock up".

The correct instructions would be "Take ONE or TWO tablets every 4 to 6 hours up to four times a day as required" assuming your liver is basically OK.

Don't take any more paracetamol with them as they already contain the full dose. They may make you drowsy, but in your case I guess no-one will ever tell Wink

Here endeth the work shite; I come here to get away from that sorta stuff! Laughing

They are 30/500 and one is enough to take away a lot of the pain/chill me out. Thanks Defblade.

Lactulose (before it starts, if you're prone to it).
Lactulose may cause flatulence (fairly common) and abdo cramps (less common). We can sell you something for each of those, too Smile

Gotta love this polypharmcy lark Wink

That is the bane of my life!! The amount of people that I attend on a daily basis just because they can't follow instructions from their doctor!!

doctor wrote:
taking this medication in the long term will give you stomach ulcers and/or gastric reflux so I'm prescribing you this other tablet to sort that for you before it even starts...

yeah I'm getting really bad heart burn that's causing pains in my chest... I haven't taken that stomach tablet though, the doctor didn't explain it to me so I'm not sure what it does...

I thought maybe "WELL." on the label meant the pharmacist had been taking too many of his own products?

But if the instructions were on the tablet bottle you don't
need to follow Doc instructions ?

Divid your day and amount you need to take.

4 a day split your day in 4 and it keeps it in your system.

I'm on 7 antibiotic tablets a day from when I get up in the morning.

It is really pissing me off.

One is 4 times a day but take 1 hour before eating or 2 hours after.

The other is 3 times a day and the same thing.

So when do I eat.?

Yeah, I wish my Dr had told me that before prescribing a lot of pain relief every day until I could walk again. Would have saved me a lot of trouble. Sometimes it's the medical professional who's the dickhead, not the patient.

BTW, worked out the actual answer to the original question today.

There's a whole bunch of stuff that has to be printed on every label for a medicine containing paracetamol, which ends with the phrase "Talk to a doctor if you take too much paracetamol, even if you feel well."

If the directions are too long on the first label, the warnings can get pushed onto a 2nd label... in this case, only by the very last word "well."

You should have had another label above that one, with all the individual directions and the rest of the warnings on... but it got missed. So now you know the exact breed of cock-up Wink

Take them all 1 hour before eating. Then the last one in the evening before bed.

Thanks, there is indeed a part concealed label under the "Well" one and it reads as you say!
