I have to say that I have the exact same opinion.

Saw a guy in Southport wearing one once although, he was also riding what looked like a white police bike. The urge to punch him was quite powerful when I realised it wasn't actually a copper.

I've seen two of those POLITE guys yesterday on my commute with white helmets and all, riding side by side and blocking the whole lane. It got so much on my nerves I passed between them while flipping the finger.
They even flashed some blue lights and tried to catch up with me, this stuff should be forbidden.

the horse riders around here (on the outskirts of edinburgh) all wear them. it fucks me off, more than if a biker was wearing one.

i had a stupid lady the other day on her stupid equine death trap, waving her hands at me to slow down, i was doing 60, slowed to 30, didnt even change gear to keep it nice and quiet, she was waving so furiously that she pulled the stupid beast into the center of the road and nearly fell off the stupid thing.
i then saw the polite jacket..
so gave her the finger, chopped down a couple and thundered off, i was so infuriated that i almost stopped to pick up a handful of gravel and turn round, catch up with her and then throw the gravel at her, her stupid vest, and her dumb fucking road tax dodging horse,
but i was nearly home.
so just yelled at the mrs instead
