Just found out that my k100 has been stolen during the night Identifiable features are the red panniers, missing side pannel. (Most probably in worse condition now).

Ah fuck. Only yesterday I was thinking how much easier this life would be without having to worry about fucking bike thieves. I'm currently looking at one property that has a garage set well back, and two gates in front of it. I'm considering (if I buy this particular place) putting ground anchors in the garage and some fuck-off locks and chains on the gates, parking the car right in front of the garage door, and still I'll be worried about the bike being nicked. You can only do so much. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

I had a bike nicked that was chained to a lamp post (admittedly, not with the best chain in the world), and had an alarm on it. As far as I was aware, the alarm was working fine, but I never heard it (dozed off after work). Didn't you have any decent security on the bike then Smiler? Not that this guarantees anything. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Awww, Smiler.
Are we really going to inflict a 20-20-hindsight kicking as well? I wouldn't have expected an old K100 to be much of a target even for parts. I guess nothing's safe though.
Fingers crossed that it's in a bush round the corner. If you do see it riding around, your story is "He came out of nowhere doing 100mph then just fell off" not "Yeah, that was my stolen bike, so I kicked him off and I hope the bastard's brown bread." ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

This is a true story as I know the people involved : A fellow bought a brand new RD 350 ypvs .
Every night he put it in his garage with a chain through the back wheel to his metal engineers bench.
He then parked the car up against the garage doors.
I guess you can say he was trying to keep his bike safe?
He went into his garage one morning to find that scum bags had broken in through the window.
They couldn't get the bike out so they stripped it of it`s seat, pipes, engine, tank, side panels, and front wheel.
This happened in Hanwell in West London in the 80`s
My point being is you can keep your bike safe, but I they want it, no matter what you do, they will get it ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

What a nightmare.
No matter what any of us do, if a scrote wants something they'll get it if they really want it.
I have to go down Lawrence Weston fairly regularly, will keep half an eye out as there's normally quite a few Scooters/Bikes being badly ridden by scrotes around there. At least the bike looks fairly distinctive, would be easy enough to spot. |

Sorry to hear about your loss Smiler.
Pepperami is right about the bastards. My old z400 twin (hardly a desirable machine, even back in '94) was left chained to a sign post after I encountered a fuelling issue on my way to the maternity hospital, wife then inconveniently sprogged up and I couldn't get back to the bike for a fortnight. The bastards had a good go at the lock, gave up and nicked the tank and side panels |

If you ever get it back, you can tell curious onlookers that you painted the panniers with the thief's blood as a warning to any future light-fingered scoundrels. ____________________ Motorsapien Art |

Well I went out for a tour today to see if I could see it no luck though and so far no more sightings. Did come across an Aprilia mille, mini moto and a pulse speed fight all bunt out. ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS
