Rubber tubes (aka 'power bands') should be red, not black.

My question is could this issue be because one of these tubes is no in place or could it be something else ?

That tube would of housed the spongle pins that regulate to do-dahs and now the watchermacallits wont work properly

Not helpful unless you tell him what viscosity of fluid he should he have used.
