I called in to the central Berlin Adac offices the other day, to pay my renewal and I asked about the rumour of non German residents joining.
There is no such rule.
I also collared a few English leaflets. I've turned one into a pdf, it shows all the benefits and costs.
Some of the main ones are, you are the member, not any specific vehicle and it doesn't cost more if you dare to use something over 5 years old.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/m1hl1cqgbnp26xd/adac%20english%20info.%20%20-%2022%20aug%202015%2016-51.pdf?dl=0

If anyone is serious about joining, pm me your address and let me know you have in the thread and I'll post you one.
I don't have many though.

Id suggest that phoning them is the easiest way to join, give your card details over the phone etc.
Just call the Munich number, available with a quick googling.

In your experience, better than RAC or AA, then?

Any idea whether you have to be a EU citizen, or whether you just have to live in the EU?

I downloaded it into my dropbox for closer perusal Mr. Green Thumbs Up

I'm a member.
E-mailed them and paid on a card over the phone.
Two levels of membership. The better one is partner Plus - about £90.
For that I get cover for me and wife for whatever we are driving/riding. UK and EU. Lots of benefits if you get hurt/sick in Europe, including medical repatriation.
They are partnered with the AA in the UK, so if you are broken down etc, you phone a number in Germany (speak excellent English) and they send the AA.
Only down side is that if you call them out 3 times in a year, they restrict call outs etc to Germany only.
There is plenty of info on Google - usually on camping/caravanning forums because they love the fact that caravans etc are covered home and abroad all as a part of the membership.

I wouldn't mind moving to Germany, though.
Just to get the extra call-outs, you understand ... Laughing

They are huge. I imagine as good as or better than the aa. If u have aa euro cover, they send Adac to you.
If ur an Adac member and use them in the UK, Adac send the aa.

I've only used them once, to tow start my van in a French hotel car park, after the starter packed in, in Belgium.

Sound ideal, I can't get reasonable priced cover for my 16 year old bike that covers Europe so this could be a lifesaver. Cheers Thumbs Up

I've been a member in the past, but never had to use them.

Only people that would cover decent sized (ie 7.5t) motorhomes for not-silly money.

Best value breakdown without other offers (with cashback you could recently get personal greenflag cover for a fair bit less, for instance.)

I took out a year's membership a few years ago when I took my '97 Thundercat to France for a week.

Like you say, covering a 16-17 year old vehicle is virtually impossible cos other European breakdown policies either have a 10 year age limit or they charge an arm and a leg.

When I was researching some good cover for a decent price, ADAC popped up on lots of different forums cos the vehicle age wasn't a factor and they were only 70 odd quid a year. Classic car forums, motor caravans, touring caravans, bikers, they all said ADAC were good with English speaking staff, pretty comprehensive cover, and a good price...

I've not sent a pm. I forgot you might not know who I am on here. I'm the man waiting on a certain pump.

Another ADAC member here, its always highly amusing when I`m accosted by the AA/RAC guy at his little stand trying to sell me breakdown cover while I`m doing my shopping in Tesco`s. They inevitably shut up when I show them my ADAC card. The AA guy is usually the most pissed off
