I've just bought a 96 cbr 600, it's come with a carbon can "Not for road use". I have the standard exhaust to go back on.

My question is How many mounting points are there for the exhaust up the downpipes?
I only have one bracket at the pillion foot peg. I'm sure I read somewhere about a second point nearer the downpipe joint.
Any help will be appreciated!

Cheers
Jase

IIRC, mount points are the headers to the engine and can to pillion peg.

Thanks for the help. Much happier it would be mounted correctly with one mount.

just dremel off the "not for road use" bit.

It does actually say" for road use " as the not has been ground out (badly)
It's a micron ch40 or 50 I think. It is loud.

Out of interest are there markings for an after market road use exhaust?

I had to smile this afternoon , I have a Micron exhuast on my bike , when I took it in for a MOT a few weeks back , the garage man said your exhaust is not illegal but it is loud.
He even put it on the advisory note , when I was cleaning the exhaust this afternoon , it says at the bottom not for road use , I thought that was funny Very Happy

I halved the size of the exhaust on my CBR and on MOT day I asked if there would be a problem with it (because I'd snapped 3 (allegedly) HSS drill bits 2 holes weren't completely drilled so are missing the rivets), because I'd put the original band back on the end he said something along the lines of "since it has the correct markings on it, I have to assume that's how it was sold" Twisted Evil

I love the exhaust sound, was a little loud, so fitted the baffles.
Was just worried about getting grief from the local plod !

Can someone tell me what the road legal markings are exactly ?

I don't believe there is any, down to the tester.

From experience most decent bike testing places aren't that fussed, not so good for repeat business.

The plod will not give you grief if you don,t act like a j**k in fornt of them.
The police are KEEN KEEN KEEN round here and I have had no problems with them , I even had one old bill at the shop come over to say how nice he thought my bike was..

As for the markings , stamp I can not remember but I am sure someone has said already , it was a few days ago when I read the post but anyway...

I am not going to tell you to break the law as I am an upstanding citizen Confused

EBAY....

Last time I got pulled for being a bit cheeky with speed the cops didn't say a thing about my cans. And they're just about the loudest things i've heard. Even complimented the bike and let me off with a warning.

I don't ride the bike at night on principle though. I don't really want to be "that guy".

As said, there are no legal markings but if it's marked "not for road use" it's illegal. Howevere-you can get some nice little stickers off Ebay that state "legal for road use".....
