Having got myself a project that requires a full A licence to actually ride, I need to look at upgrading from A2.

My plan is to practice on my own bike, book in and do tests using my own bike. This means I need to de-restrict my ER6 in the car park.
Restriction is in two parts:
-Throttle stop. Piece of piss, one bolt removes side panel, two smaller bolts hold on the L-shaped stop.
-ECU over-ride. According to this video there should be a connector block with just a loop of wire attached. Mine has a whole new cable instead that disappears round the left hand side of the tank. Halp? I haven't found any other guides on this and I don't know what that wire is, so I don't want to disconnect it.

tl;dr Don't know what this wire is under the seat.

They'll see me ride up on it, so I need to be seen doing something with it. Also if they ask, I can waste some time showing them.
Throttle stop comes off just fine, don't want to take it off without knowing what that wire is doing though.

Wait, nevermind. Abandon thread.

Managed to trace the wire, it's the gear indicator that the previous owner attached. Looks like I was never fully restricted in the first place.

<Teflon-Mike standards of factual accuracy>
My vague understanding is that the actual restriction on the ER6 is entirely done by the throttle stop. The ECU bypass is just to prevent it going into some sort of theoretical sulk mode because you're never opening the throttle fully. The fact that you're not seeing any problems without it bypassed may confirm that it's not a big deal.

I think the fact that it's dealer-fitted should give me enough cover if it's ever called to question, that's the only worry Smile
