First 1k on CBR300R

I have just done my first thousand miles on my CBR300R and its great, yes I know it isn't supah powafull like the 600`s and above but it has more than enough for what I need without being silly while I gain experience. I noticed in a past thread someone pointed out the low mpg on Fuelly, I think they were looking at U.S. gallons not UK, last week gave me 94mpg and Im averaging 88mpg, this is not riding at 30mph everywhere.
The bike pulls quite happily from 4k-8k, easily passing cars on my commute, I rode back from Blackpool at *0mph on the motorway and it was fine just a little buzzy, if I were doing regular trips on motorways at 70-80mph I would probably go up 1 tooth on the front.
The bike does what it was designed for very well without having to thrash its arse off with high revs, tyres are ok and will move to Pilot Streets when worn, Ive got 2 years warranty and breakdown with it so piece of mind, this is just a bit of info for my experience so far and if anybody else is thinking of one feel free to ask any
questions regarding the bike.

They do look good, and are a nice size for normal humans. ABS, hugger as standard (minor issue, but it pleased me), I had a sit and was temped.

No demonstrator though, so no test ride = no chance. They've dropped the price this year, but still haven't managed to sell over a hundred of them.

Even at £4K, it's a tough sell against the Ninja, RC 390 and even the CBR500R. Not as tough as Suzuki are going to have if they really try and sell that hideous faired Inazuma at that price though.

Tires check here, assuming 110/140's. He often has a good price on Pirelli DR2's, which will be better than pilot streets.

Hi OP.

I actually think the CBR300 is a decent concept and an ok looking bike too! I can imagine it making a good bike for a newbie that does not want to pointlessly restrict a 94bhp bike for A2 etc.

The thing that does annoy me most with both the CBR300 and the 300Ninja is that they are money making bikes for the companies with as little effort or expense into the design as they can get away with.

I still think that a sporty bike of under 150kg with sharper geometry, better specced suspension/brakes and more ground clearance could be achieved with the std CBR300 engine or the Ninja 300 lump.

As could a small but capable light and pretend serious looking supermoto or trail bike etc.

I'd still like to ride a bike that is a bit like an Aprilia RS125, but with the CBR or Ninja engine fitted though.

Tl:dr Honda should IMO have made the CBR300 a Moto3 replica with a high end light chassis to get the most out of these motors.
