Beowulf exhaust LOUD 😀 earplugs or Baffle?

My can is super loud. Which is great as it will keep me safer.
But after an hour of riding my ears are a ringing.

Not wanting to do permanent damage I am thinking earplugs are a good idea.
Also I have to roll the bike away from the house at 5.30am when I get up so as not to wake my 5y old.
Is it worth getting a baffle for the exhaust? Will/ could this mess up the carb balance?

I had read something that says removing or replacing the baffle could effect the engine performance.
Apologies for my lack of knowledge.

I'm guessing the consensus will be stick earplugs in if I want and don't touch the exhaust.

AFAIK all Beowulfs come with removable baffles so if your bike didn't have one I'm sure they will sell you a replacement.

There are many generic baffles on ebay as well.

Loud is one thing. Ear shatteringly loud is just antisocial.

If it's hurting your ears-what's it doing to everybody else? Put a baffle in it.

Personally I would never ride any bike without ear plugs for journeys over a few miles. I never bothered with them in the past and my ears would always being ringing for the whole of the next day and I'd just feel knackered. Now I can ride my bike (bearing in mind it's an SM with 0 wind protection) all day, 250 miles or so and feel fine the next day. I put it all down to the ear plugs (and regular stops ).

Roger- True, I had thought that myself so would have had it professionally done to be safe.

I am investing in some decent earplugs as I think that the additional wind noise from going 70(ish!!) is a lot louder than my CG125 at 50 would make.

I've also got this bloody cold so I could be just stuffed up anyway and that's making my ears feel weird.

Either way, earplugs it is and if anybody complains or I get tugged, i'll stick a baffle in it..

Quantity > quality with earplugs. I bought a box of 200 pairs of foam plugs (Silverline) for like £11 and get through a pair a week. That's about four years worth.

The SNR number on them is 37 which is about the maximum noise reduction you'll get from plugs and is arguably too much, but try them out and see how you get on.

Rider-specific ones like NoNoise aren't as good for blocking noise but apparently let in 'useful' sound.
