Hi guys,

I am starting my project on the mtx a got a few months ago, i have a few questions where i could do with some advice, firstly would you recomend powdercoating over spray painting?

where my taco cable goes into the engine, there is a huge leak, is it simple to change the seal?

There is also a black plastic tube on the top of the engine that has been secured on with some wire, anybody know what this is?

Finally the plate that coveres the spindle on my front fork the screws that hold it in are just spinning would i need to Get them rethreaded or what?

Cheers guys i will post updates as things get done!!

hi
the black tube thing you refer to on top of the engine is the atac valve resonator chamber
i blocked mine up as it makes the bike faster
it leads to the exhaust port, if it leaks or falls off, the exhaust gases (and noise) come straight out of it
its like an early 80s crap powervalve, similar in effect to the dead end restrictor pipe on peugeot speedfights
but honda left all the gubbins out

easiest blocked with jbweld or similar, by removing the exhaust and blocking it from that end,
or use scrunched up tinfoil and exhaust paste if you just want to test the effect temporarily
