T30 (EVO) Vs PR 4 :) :) Your thoughts?

So,
Bike: Street tipple.
Ride style: 25 miles motorway a day + lots of riding for fun in evening s and weekend on twisty roads.

Looking for all weather types with long life.

Been told and looked into the pr4 and t30, (any different from the t30 evo?)

Thoughts from you guys would be gratefully received

I've just done 12,500 miles on a rear T30 (plain cooking version tyre not EVO), it was very square but still legal tread wise when I decided to renew it. It's spent most of those miles at 90mph plus on motorways.

The front T30 squared early, almost like it was over inflated (36psi), but I never got a chance to wear it out as I got a puncture and replaced rather than repaired it with the first tyre I could lay my hands on (needed the bike on the road).

I've had no problems in the last 7 months and you know some of the hideous weather we've had this year. I bought a new T30 for the rear and fitted it last week.

Not bad considering the "roads" he was on.

I've done 5,000 miles on PR4 on Street and 2,500 on SV.

If I had to guess I reckon the Street's got another 3-4,000 left and the SV should crack 10k with ease.

So I think 8-9k on the Street, which is great as the Rosso Corsa's were squared off by 5k.

I was considering T30's next, or Sportec M7, or Dunlop Roadsmart 2 as next tyres.
Trouble is, I don't know why I'd move away from PR4's except to try something else. PR4's seem pretty near perfect to me at the moment.

T30 on the rear of my R1 and S20 Evo on the front. I still wanted that very angular V profile on the front that allows me to drop the bike into corners.

Despite having gone to a 55 profile on the rear in to make it stand on point, it is a sports touring tyre and will not drop on its ear on a sixpence.

Nevertheless, having come from riding solely on Roadsmarts, I can vouch for the T30 both in the wet and in the dry (took it up the Black Mountain Pass). Warms up quickly and grips pretty well. I have spun it up a few times in the wet, but that's me hitting the powerband on the R1 in 2nd in the wet whilst overtaking on white lines!

They're all much of a muchness with sports touring tyres. If i can get 6500-8000 miles out of the back before they become illegal, then I'm happy with it!

I had BT23's on my Firestorm and loved them. Bought the XJ6 and they had 21's and were a little squirrily in the wet. Now I have the T30 on there, front and back, and love them. Considering my day is spent motorway to and from work then a CBT road ride or DAS riding these tyres are great.

Not long fitted T30's to my Fireblade. Hope they last a bit longer than the 1600 miles I got from S20's

Blimey, you only got 1600 out of an S20!? I managed 4k on mine on the R1. Was pleasantly surprised. The boggo ones or the Evo?

What were the Angels like? I was tempted to get a set before settling on the T30. In my eyes, a sports touring tyre is a sports touring tyre so they're much of a muchness. Profile and grip and broadly similar between brands, as is mileage...(OK with the exception of the PR3/4's who have exceptional wet weather grip from their sipes).

I was always a fan of Bridgestones (BT021 then 023) on my last bike (Thunderace) but never got more than 2k miles out of front or back so tried the Pirelli Angels. Ugh. Felt like plastic, and at the same speed, same lean on same corners felt the back end slide when the bridgestones would just grip and grip. Pirellis would have lasted longer than BT023 I reckon but they were horrible to ride on after the sure grip of the Bridgestones.

The standard S20s on current bike (ZZR) I managed to eke out to 2500 miles (I'd owned for 1300 miles of those and previous owner had left them virtually as new with chicken strips you could park a car on) but they were proper shot by then, and I'd been riding like a pussy to get me to the Isle of Man and back, so I wouldn't expect more than 2k out of those normally.

Bought some Pilot Road 2s (as they were quite a bit cheaper than PR4s) and so far so good. Grip really well, barely any wear after a thousand miles on the tyre shoulders which normally dissolve on the North Yorks moors rutted tracks that pass for A and B roads, and good grip in the wet.

Wasn't a fan of Michelins previously before these tyres but I've been nothing but impressed by them in the few months since IoM they've been on and will try them again next time. If I get 2k miles out of them that will do me.
