Well MOD 1 passed yesterday at the Swansea site.
Got to JT's early to have a few goes around the carpark at the slow manouvres. Happy with those so we moved off down to SA1 to find a quiet spot and went through the High speed manouvres.
We arrived early at the test centre to get a feel for the place, unfortunately there wasnt anyone before me and it appeared I was the first out that day.
Got called into a small office and provided my CBT certificate, Driving Docs and Theory test pass certificate. After signing my life away, we went out and stood by the bike where he wrote down some details and gave instructions. The test then starts from this point, so you must remember all your observations. I did chuckle doing obs when pulling off from a parking spot, just incase something came through the fence at me...
We went into the test area, and moved the bike from one spot to another, from there the slalom straight into the figure of 8, trying to keep a smooth and steady pace. Maintaining the revs and controlling the speed using the clutch/rear brake.
I found that taking a breather before every manouvre really helped me with what was a really nervous time. We did the slow ride, no problems again feathering the clutch.
Next the Turning in the road/U turn. The space I'd practiced in over at JT's was purposely made smaller so this was pretty easy, higher revs than the slow ride, but feather that clutch!
After all that it was time for the speed manouvres. First up was the controlled stop, a steady ride down the test area coming back through the cones at approx 19mpgh then stopping with your front wheel in a box of 4 cones.
Next up, the emergency stop, a manouvre executed at 50kph or 31 mph. Using the Suzuki Gladius was an advantage as it has ABS, so no matter how hard I was to pull the brake lever, i knew i would not skid. However I ensured that I did not grab at the lever. Clocked up 49kph for this, which was a Minor on the test.
Finally the swerve, this is a lot easier than I had imagined after hearing all the horror stories. The swerve itself is probably only half a meter and depending on the course layout can be left/right or right/left. My first attempt was at 47kph which was another minor. Due to this being my first attempt I was allowed another go. So set off again, came around the corner, straightenned up and gave the throttle a good twist. as soon as you're through the speed trap, roll off the throttle, swerve, then head back towards the blue cones and come to a complete stop.
The examiner did not say anything at this point, but let me back out into the parking area, remembering all observations until the bike is at a standstill.
At this point I didnt know whether I'd passed or failed, it all depended on whether I'd got me speed up sufficiently on the swerve. The examiner led me back into the small office where he sat me down and told me the news that I'd passed. Really happy! Just one more hoop to jump through!
Hope this helps anyone attempting their MOD1. ____________________ - Yamaha YBR 125 - Swansea, UK

Good job. Far too much worrying about mod 1, just get it done.

Minor Small point, 47kph is a fail, with another go allowed. 48 or 49kph is a minor, and you can carry on, as happened with the e-stop.
I can't recall ever hearing of anyone failing mod 1 on totted up minors. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
