Importing Goods from Germany

If I wanted to import some new car/ bike bits from Germany to the UK on a pallet - then what are the costs with this? Do I have to pay VAT in Germany then also in the UK? Or can I claim the VAT back from Germany and then only pay the UK VAT?

Reason I ask is some stuff from germany is quite cheap at the moment with the £ being strong against the eur and I can get a 1m x 1.2m pallet trucked across europe for £150 or there abouts and I was thinking about buying more than I needed and selling the rest on.....

Can you even reclaim the VAT back, the form asks about goods bought from EU countries?

I think that is all you need, my impression is if you buy in the EU you can bring back as much of what you want, though to much of some things you will get quizzed about.
