Closest i've come to a collision

Was riding down a 30mph road, up in the distance is a junction on the left hand side.
As i'm approaching there is a car coming the other way, indicating to turn right (into the junction on my left), he slows right down and i continue as its my right of way, then when i'm about 20ft away he starts to turn, i emergency stop, bike slows about a metre then the front tyre locks up and i skid to a stop with the front wheel less than a 1ft from his left side rear door.
Strong smell of burnt rubber, and i'm a bit stunned by it as its the first time that has happened especially with such a tiny amount of time to react.
Old cunt driver continues the turn and just carries on driving, not even sure i existed in his universe.
My only regret is not following him and sticking my keys in his eyeballs as he clearly doesn't use them.

Most oblivious driver i've ever encountered in my relatively short riding career of 4 years. Just thankful for a thick front tyre as a front end lock up would usually end in a spill but it was a straight line.

Got a pet hate for old codgers on the road, some of the things they do is shocking and as you say, they usually have no idea what they've done. You can spot them from behind quite easily at least, just look out for the box of tissues and tartan blanket on the parcel shelf.

Good job on holding it up (). Not much you can do in that situation except come to a halt in the road. Which I have done a couple of times because Spidey Sense.

I've also stopped in the road and dismounted to proffer some choice observations to a codger who was driving so close behind me that I could smell the Werther's on his breath. I'd normally have shrugged it off, but it was approaching a zebra crossing with think-of-the-children preparing to cross.

He shrank into his seat and nearly blubbed, but I don't think he had any actual grasp of what he was doing, either specifically wrong, or just in general.

Mandatory brief re-tests every few years? Fine with me, bring it on.

Mmm, it's not something that I'd advocate doing. I've been lucky to get away with it once. I'm sure we've all started following a cretin with the intention of remonstrating then thought better of it - probably best to keep thinking that way.

Two major close calls to date.

First was due to lack of obs on my part. Long country road, car up ahead indicated to turn right in to a side road while i was perving at a jogger.

i ended up literally about 10cm from his rear bumper, was one of those 'oh shit' moments.

second one was a car driving in the gutter on the left side of the road up ahead, going really slow. i slowed down as a got close and got ready to overtake. Just as i decided to gun it, he indicates right in order to do a u turn, again i managed to stop inches from his drivers door...lots of swearing was done.

Both have been due to me not concentrating i suppose.

Well done on keeping it up. I'm gonna take this opportunity to have a whinge.

Two weeks ago, I'm travelling down a national speed limit road and an oncoming bus wants to turn across my lane into a side road. He indicates and enters his filter lane (thingy) and comes to a stop. I'm plenty far away and I thought, great he's seen me, he's stopped ffs. As I get closer, within 60 m let's say, he then decides to pull out. After being stationary for a good few seconds watching me come down the hill in my hi-viz and headlighted glory. I slowed and swerved around it, all the while honking my horn at the bus, only the passengers saw me though.

Moral - Roads are silly.
